Greetings and blessings,
After a long interruption, I have received your letter and what was enclosed with it, as well as your request for a blessing, which will be read, at a propitious moment, at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us. You say that, according to the opinion of the Yad Ephraim*, from the age of seventy... (note 1: One has the right to think of retirement).
This is judicious, but only if one takes care, sufficiently early, to find a suitable replacement. It is then that you will be able to adopt this idea and devote yourself to the Torah* and the service of Hashem*, on the condition that you not content yourself with your own person alone, that you also teach others and participate in public studies. For nothing resists the will. I address to you my blessing that the merit of the one whose Hilloula* we will soon celebrate (note 2: Of the Previous Rebbe*, on 10 Shevat*) protect each and every one, within all of Israel, together with my blessing to convey good news, of a visible and tangible good, always and every day.

אחרי הפסק ארוך נתקבל מכתבו עם המצורף אליו, והפ"נ, אשר יקרא בעת רצון על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.
ובכלל מה שכותב לפי דעת יד אפרים, משבעים שנה וכו' - איז דאס א גלייכע זאך, אבל במה דברים אמורים שישתדלו בעוד מועד ע"ד ממלא מקום מתאים, ואז יש מקום לחשוב ע"ד הסברא והוא יוכל לשבת על התורה ועבודה, אבל בתנאי שלא להסתפק בעצמו כי אם גם ללמוד עם אחרים וכן להשתתף בשיעורי לימוד ברבים, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון...
בברכה שזכות בעל ההילולא הבע"ל יגן על כאו"א בתכ"י ולבשו"ט בטוב הנראה והנגלה תכה"י.
