Greetings and blessings,

After a particularly long interruption, I have received your letter of 8 Shevat*, with the request for a blessing that concluded it and which will be read, at a propitious moment, at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us. You ask me what you should do if you are offered a permanent position at the Jewish Agency. Should you accept it, despite the responsibility it represents?

In my opinion, the manner in which things present themselves indicates to you the conduct you should adopt. Indeed, you are being offered a position of a permanent nature and one knows that everything is an effect of divine Providence. It is appropriate to see therein proof that you should accept it. Indeed, our holy Torah* says: "I have sent you to repair" (note 1: Every mission entrusted to a man must therefore enable a positive accomplishment on his part). This indeed means that you are granted the necessary strength to fully assume these functions. There are no words to explain the merit of this, and it is surely unnecessary to say more. Certainly, it will sometimes be necessary to show determination, so that what you request will be accepted, but remember the past, the situation that was yours in the country where you previously were (note 2: In Soviet Russia) and where the courage (note 3: That was expected of each one) was of an entirely different nature. Despite this, we resisted all the concealments, all the obstacles, and we emerged victorious, as the children attest (note 4: Who remained faithful to the Jewish tradition). It is therefore certain that you have sufficient strength to assume your current role in the best manner. This is self-evident. With my blessing to convey good news of all this,

N.B.: You are surely aware of the three well-known fixed studies that bear on the Chumash*, the Tehillim*, and the Tanya*. At the very least, you will adopt them in the future.

לאחרי הפסק הכי ארוך, נתקבל מכתבו מח' שבט עם הפ"נ, שבסיומו, שיקרא בעת רצון על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ושואל דעתי, באם יציעו לו לקבל עבודתו בסוכנות בקביעות, האם ימשיך בה, כיון שאחריות בדבר וכו'.

ולדעתי, הנקודה האמורה תשמש הוכחה איך עליו להתנהג, ז.א. שבאם מצדם יחליטו לקבלו בקביעות, וכל הענינים ה"ה בהשגחה פרטית, זוהי הוכחה שעליו לקבל המשרה, וכיון שאמרה תוה"ק לתקוני שדרתיך, הנה נותנים לו הכחות והאפשריות למלאות תפקידו במשרתו האמורה במילואה, שגודל הזכות אין די באר, והאריכות בזה אך למותר, ואף שלפעמים צריכים להראות בזה תוקף וכיו"ב בכדי שימלאו הדרישה, הנה כשיזכור את העבר, המעמד ומצב במדינתו לפנים שהיו זקוקים לתוקף אחר לגמרי, ובכ"ז עמדו בפני העלמות והסתרים ודידן נצח, וההוכחה בזה הבנים והבנות, הרי בודאי שבמצבו עתה די תוקף בו ככל הדרוש למלאות התפקיד הנ"ל, וק"ל.
