Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter, requesting a blessing. At a propitious moment, it will be read at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us, so that you and yours obtain the satisfaction of your needs. The merit of your sacred activity, education based on sacred values, which draws the hearts of the children of Israel close to our Father Who is in heaven, will protect you in all of this.

Our Torah*, Torah* of life, demands that one know elevation in the domain of holiness. You will therefore surely redouble your ardor in this matter, for such is the need, the necessity of the moment, in this era of the heels of Moshiach*, of an intense and deep darkness within the exile. It is then necessary to intensify holiness and light, in greatly increased proportion. This must transform the conduct of a Jew in general, of one who possesses pedagogical capabilities in particular. It is incumbent upon him to draw the hearts of his students close through love of one's fellow, through love of the Torah*, and through love of Hashem*, which, according to a well-known saying of the Alter Rebbe*, form but a single entity — the Holy One, blessed be He, His Torah*, and His Mitzvos*. The more intense this love will be, in conformity with the teachings of the Torah*, whose "ways are pleasant ways and all whose paths are peace," the more will be revealed the hidden love that we have inherited from our ancestors, "as the face reflects in water," in the relationship between men. This is what the holy Tanya* explains. With my blessing for success in your sacred mission and to convey good news of all this,

וזכות התעסקותו במלאכתו מלאכת שמים חינוך על טהרת הקדש, המקרב את לבם של בני ישראל לאבינו שבשמים, תעמוד לו בכל האמור,

וכציווי תורתנו הק' תורת חיים, דמעלין בקדש, בודאי יוסיף אומץ בזה, והרי זוהי גם כן דרישת והכרח השעה, דעקבתא דמשיחא, חשך כפול ומכופל דזמן הגלות, שזהו דורש הגברת האור והקדושה כמה פעמים ככה, המתבטא בפעולות איש הישראלי בכלל, ואלו אשר חוננו בכשרון החינוך ביחוד, לקרב לבם של המחונכים - על ידי אהבת ישראל, אהבת התורה ואהבת השם, וכידוע פתגם רבנו הזקן, שחד הן - להקב"ה תורתו ומצותיו, וככל שתגדל האהבה מתאים כהוראת התורה שדרכי' דרכי נועם ונתיבותי' שלום, הנה כמים הפנים לפנים מאחד לחבירו תתגלה גם האהבה מסותרת אשר ירושה היא לנו מאבותינו, כמבואר בספר תניא קדישא.
