To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of vast knowledge, Rav Tzvi (note 1: Rav T. Friedman, of Brooklyn),

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter from the eve of Shabbos* and I thank you very much for your gift, an account about the father of the Alter Rebbe* (note 2: Rabbi Baruch), author of the Tanya* and Decisor of the hidden dimension of the Torah*, author of the Shulchan Aruch* and Decisor of the revealed dimension of the Torah*. You report to me his sacred conduct, which was wondrous. A small part of it is reported in the memoirs of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, leader of Israel, pertaining however only to the period before his departure into exile. In any case, our Sages* emphasize the value of the accomplishments of the righteous, especially when it concerns hidden righteous, righteous ones who are the foundation of the world.

May Hashem* grant that his merit protect each one of us, within all of Israel, in all material and spiritual needs, with breadth of spirit. One will announce good news to the other and receive it from him. It will be solely a visible and tangible good. I send you my respects and my blessing for a good month. We will pass from Adar Rishon* to Adar Sheni*, then one will draw one redemption close to the other (note 3: That of Purim* to that of Pesach*) and it will be Nissan*, of which it is said: "It is in Nissan* that they were liberated and in Nissan* that they will be."

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מעש"ק, ות"ח ת"ח על התשורה הסיפור ע"ד אביו של רבנו הזקן בעל התניא - פוסק בנסתר דתורה - והשו"ע - פוסק בנגלה דתורה -, מהנהגותיו בקדש באורח פלא וכו' וכמבואר אפס קצהו גם בזכרונות לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל, אף כי מהתקופה קודם שהתחיל בענין הגלות, ובכ"א הודיעונו חז"ל מילתא אלבישייהו יקירא, ובפרט בהנוגע לצדיקים הנסתרים צדיק יסוד עולם.

ויהי רצון אשר זכותו יגן על כאו"א מאתנו בתכ"י בכל המצטרך בגשמיות וברוחניות ומתוך הרחבת הדעת איש את רעהו יבשרו ויתבשרו אך טוב בטוב הנראה והנגלה.

בכבוד ובברכת חדש טוב מחדש אדר א' לאדר שני וממנו מסמך גאולה לגאולה לחדש ניסן, בניסן נגאלו ובניסן עתידין להגאל.
