By the grace of Hashem,

To the distinguished Chassidim* who fear Hashem and

devote themselves to communal needs,

Rav* Moshe Yehudah and

Rav* Yaakov Moshe,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of this Sunday evening, in which you inform me of your holy mission, exercised toward those who observe the Shemittah* in the proper manner — "the mighty ones who fulfill His word" — in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt very soon and in our days, by our righteous Moshiach*. When the founders of the Shemittah* fund in New York came to see me, they clearly indicated that they were prepared to assist all those who observe the Shemittah* in the Holy Land, without introducing any distinction (note 1: Between the different religious affiliations). They are men of their word, especially since the Torah* itself advocates such conduct and asks that one assist all the settlements. I am therefore surprised that in your letter you do not mention assistance from this fund. No doubt you will contact them now, if this has not yet been done. In any case, it is written: "I am a companion of all who fear You," and I therefore enclose a check, on a personal basis.

May Hashem grant that the terms of the verse be fulfilled soon: "There shall be no poor among you" (note 2: Including on account of the Shemittah*). We will then observe the situation that relates to this promise — that is, that Yisrael* will do the Will of Hashem, as the Sifri* states on the verse Devarim* 15:4, and as our Sages* explain — that this is so when one serves Hashem not only "with all your heart and with all your soul" but also "with all your might" (note 3: "In every situation to which you are confronted"), as the Maggid* (note 4: Of Mezeritch*) explains regarding Tractate Berachos* 35b. The observance of Shemittah* will lead us, very soon, to the counting of the Shemittah* and the Yovel*, which will be performed when "all the inhabitants of the Holy Land are found there," after having been gathered by our righteous Moshiach*, very soon and in our days. P.S.: You refer to a letter of recommendation (note 5: For the financing of Shemittah* observance). You know that in the Rebbe's family, it is not customary to issue such letters.

במענה למכתבם מאור ליום השני, בו כותבים אודות שליחותם בקדש, עבור שומרי שביעית כהלכתה, גבורי כח עושי דברו, אשר באה"ק ת"ו במהרה בימינו על ידי משיח צדקנו.

בהיות אצלי מייסדי קרן השמיטה אשר בנויארק, במפורש נדבר, אשר עומדים הם הכון לעזרת כל שומרי שביעית אשר באה"ק ת"ו מבלי הבדל כלל וכלל, והרי אנשים נאמנים הם על דבריהם, ובפרט שדבר תורה הוא הנהגה האמורה, עזרה לכל המושבות, ולפלא שבמכתבם אין מזכירים אודות עזרה מקרן האמורה ובטח עכ"פ עתה יפנו אליהם, באם לא נעשה כדבר הזה עד עתה.

ובכ"א ע"פ מ"ש חבר אני לכל אשר יראוך וגו' מוסג"פ המחאתי פרטית.

ויהי רצון אשר בקרוב נזכה לקיום מ"ש אפס כי לא יהי' בך אביון, ונזכה לראות במצב הקשור עם האמור, דישראל עושין רצונו של מקום (ספרי דברים ט"ו ד') וכפירוש רז"ל בזה, אשר זהו כשעובדים ה' לא רק בכל לבבכם ובכל נפשכם אלא גם בכל מאדך (פירוש הה"מ ממעזריטש, ברכות ל"ה ב').

ומשמירת שביעית יבואו בעגלא דידן גם למנין שביעית ויובלות בהיות כל יושבי' עלי' בהתקבצם ע"י משיח צדקנו במהרה בימינו.
