I greet you and bless you,

After a long interruption, I received your letter of the 20th and 28th of Adar Rishon*, in which you communicate the doctor's opinion on your state of health. I am somewhat surprised by your assertion that prostate surgery is serious. A few years ago, this procedure was already performed on you, partially, and at present it is considered a routine intervention. Certainly, some aspects must be clarified according to the Shulchan Aruch*, for generally it is necessary to sever channels (note 1: Which constitutes castration, forbidden by the Torah*. See, on this matter, letter no. 5465). But in this case, this operation has already been partially performed, and such a clarification is therefore surely unnecessary. Likewise, it seems somewhat difficult to understand your assertion that dissolving the stone is difficult due to its size, for the size is of little consequence. In any case, practically, you should consult once more two specialist doctors in this field and follow their joint decision. Hashem, Who heals all flesh and performs wonders, will suggest to them the proper counsel and the appropriate treatment. It will be fruitful.

Indeed, we are in the month of Adar*, which is a period of mazal* and success for all of Yisrael*. Although you say nothing about it, I have good hope that you are acting to disseminate the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*). And I wish to hope that you are making an addition in this regard, in accordance with the injunction that demands to know elevation in the domain of holiness. With my blessing to give good tidings and for a joyous Purim*.

Regarding the place where this medical treatment will be performed, you should consult a doctor friend who is familiar with the different locations and the treating physicians.

לאחרי הפסק ארוך נתקבל מכתבו מיום כ' וכ"ח אד"ר, בו כותב חוו"ד הרופא בהנוגע לבריאות,

ולפלא קצת מ"ש שנתוח הפראסטאטע הוא ענין חמור, ואף שלפני איזה שנים עשו מקצתו, והרי כאן עושים כהנ"ל ונחשב לנתוח רגיל, ואף שיש בזה ענינים הצריכים בירור ע"פ שו"ע (כי ע"פ רוב חותכים השבילים), אבל כיון שכבר נעשה קצתו בטח גם אין מקום לבירור זה, כן קצת אינו מובן מ"ש שקשה לפרר האבן מפני גודלו, דלכאורה אין זה נפק"מ, ובכל אופן - בהנוגע לפועל, יתייעץ עוד הפעם עם שני רופאים במקצוע ויעשה כדעתם משותפת, והשי"ת הרופא כל בשר ומפליא לעשות יתן להם הרעיון הנכון, לאיזה טפול ליעצו ויצליח הטפול,

והרי נמצאים אנו בחדש אדר אשר ימי מזל והצלחה הם לכל ישראל.

תקותי אף שאינו מזכיר מלה עד"ז, שכן עושה בהפצת המעינות ורצוני לקוות שגם מוסיף בזה כהציווי דמעלין בקדש.
