To the organization of Chabad* women and girls,
Montreal chapter, may Hashem grant you long life,
I bless you and greet you,
I received with satisfaction your letter of 10 Adar Sheni*, with all that was enclosed — your contribution to the Maos Chittin* (note 1: The tzedakah* specific to the festival of Pesach*), for the Chabad* institutions in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, very soon and in our days, by our righteous Moshiach*. May Hashem grant that your activity expand quantitatively, by having a greater number of members, and qualitatively, by maintaining and strengthening Yiddishkeit* in all domains.
This is precisely one of the teachings of Purim*, related by our masters. The half-Shekel* offered by the Jews nullified the ten thousand silver pieces of Haman (note 2: Which he offered to Achashveirosh* in exchange for the life of the Jews). Consequently, his decree was annulled. Now, in our days, this half-Shekel* corresponds to tzedakah*. With my blessing for a joyous Purim* and to give good tidings,
