I received your letter, which was undated. You briefly indicate how you reported on what took place here. You also describe the situation of your city. May Hashem grant that good tidings finally come from the Holy Land, concerning communal accomplishments and personal concerns — of a visible and tangible good. Until when will it be thus (note 1: Until when will the transmitted tidings be systematically bad)? Moreover, it has been proclaimed: "You shall spread out... (note 2: 'To the west and to the east, to the north and to the south,' according to the motto adopted for this year. See, on this subject, letter no. 6541)." The words of this verse must therefore be fulfilled in the four cubits of each individual in particular and of all in general. I mean that each person must do everything in his power so that it should indeed be so, in the most evident manner. And it is regarding this that it is stated: "It is certain that an effort is never in vain" and "Nothing can withstand the will."

Every Chassid*, especially one who was a student of the Yeshivah*, receives a double mission. He must act upon himself with firm determination and act upon his fellow in the proper manner. This is self-evident. We are in Adar*, the month of which it was said that it was transformed (note 3: From distress to joy and from mourning to festivity), and one must therefore bring one redemption close to the other (note 4: That of Purim* to that of Pesach*) — passing from Adar* to Nissan*, liberating oneself from everything that obstructs the service of Hashem, with joy and enthusiasm. May Hashem therefore grant that you give me good tidings of all that has just been said. With my blessing to give these good tidings very soon and for a successful year in your general and specific accomplishments,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו - בלי הוראת זמן הכתיבה,

- בו כותב ר"פ ובמסירת הפ"ש מכאן וכו', וכן ר"פ מהמצב ב... וכו',

ויהי רצון אשר תתחלנה הידיעות המתקבלות מאה"ק ת"ו בהנוגע לענינים הכללים וכן הפרטים, להיות טובות - בטוב הנראה והנגלה, ועד מתי?

ובפרט שסו"ס - מכריזים על ענין דופרצת, דפשיטא שצ"ל ג"כ בד' אמות של הפרט וד"א של הכלל, כוונתי שכל אחד צריך לעשות התלוי בו בכדי להמשיך הענין בגלוי. והרי גם ע"ז נאמר חזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.

והרי כאו"א מאנ"ש, ובפרט תלמידי התמימים, תפקידו כפול, לפעול בעצמו רצון תקיף ולפעול על הזולת ע"י תעמולה מתאימה וק"ל.

ויהי רצון שכיון שנמצאים אנו בחדש אדר עליו נאמר שנהפוך הוא ומסמך גאולה לגאולה מאדר לניסן, גאולה מכל דברים המעכבים עבודת ה' בשמחה ובטוב לבב, הנה כן יבש"ט בכל האמור לעיל.
