To the attention of Mr. Yitzchak Korn (note 1: See, concerning him, letter no. 6346),

I greet you and bless you,

After a long interruption, I received your letter of 2 Adar Sheni*. Likewise, I learned of your conversation with the delegation of the rabbinical confederation. I also received news of you through Rav* Yaakov Yehudah Hecht (note 2: Of New York. See letter no. 6731). I hope that these discussions will reach a positive conclusion that will affect concrete action. You tell me, at the end of your letter, that tensions are growing as the elections approach. Yet you do not express even a single word of regret about such a regrettable situation, which makes it all the more painful. Not only are these divisions distressing, but moreover, they could worsen, as you say. Nevertheless, you view all this with indifference, as if it were a natural phenomenon.

We have just experienced the festival of Purim*, when Haman wished to destroy all the Jews without making any distinction. And the response of these Jews matched this intent, for it is stated: "Go, gather all the Jews" — without any difference among them — with, as a rallying cry, the declaration: "Fast for me" — a call to return to Hashem with a whole heart. Moreover, there was also in our generation a decree of Haman that sought to exterminate all the Jews, once again without making any distinction among them. May Hashem therefore grant that we witness gatherings of all Jews with the objective of cleaving to Hashem, as was the case in the time of Mordechai* and Esther*.

Everything is an effect of divine Hashgachah*, and it so happens that you are the president of the association of those originating from Bessarabia in the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt. I would therefore like to draw your attention to what you must already know. The immigrants from Romania and Bessarabia have founded a Yeshivah* in Kiryat Gat (note 3: See, on this subject, letter no. 6729), with the help of descendants of Chabad* families and Chabad* Chassidim* who are there in great numbers. This institution is a branch of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch of Lod. I hope that as president, you are doing everything necessary to meet the needs of these new immigrants. How much more must this be so regarding a Yeshivah*, and I merely intended to remind you of this here (note 4: Inasmuch as it is merely self-evident). No doubt you have influence and capabilities in this matter. I hope you will use them fully to satisfy their many needs, material and spiritual at once. May Hashem grant that you give me good tidings of this as well. With my respects and my blessing,

אחרי ההפסק הארוך, נתקבל מכתבו מיום ב' אדר ב'. כן קבלתי פ"ש מהשיחה שהיתה לו עם משלחת הסתדרות הרבנים, ופ"ש ג"כ על ידי הרב יעקב יהודה שי' העכט.

מובן שמה שכ' כותב בסיום מכתבו שהמתיחות תגבר עם התקרב מועד

הבחירות - מבלי להוסיף אפילו איזה בטוי של חבל על תופעה מצערת זו - הרי זה מוסיף מכאוב על מכאוב, כי מלבד עצם הענין המדאיב של פירוד הלבבות, אשר, כדבריו, עוד עלול להגביר, הרי נוסף על זה גם היחס האדיש כאילו הדבר הוא תופעה טבעית.

ועכשו שבאים אנו מחג הפורים, כשבקש המן להשמיד את כל היהודים, בלי חילוק והבדל, שמתוך כך באה התגובה אצל היהודים ג"כ לך כנוס את כל היהודים, בלי חילוק, עם הסיסמא של וצומו עלי, זאת אומרת לשוב אל השי"ת בלבב שלם, ובפרט אשר ענין גזרת המן שבדורנו ג"כ הי' עם הדיוק להשמיד את כל היהודים בלי חילוקים, יהי רצון שנזכה להתעוררות של כנוס את כל היהודים בהתקשרות להקב"ה כמו בימי מרדכי ואסתר.

כיון שכל ענין הוא בהשגחה פרטית, וכ' הוא יו"ר עולי בסרבי' באה"ק ת"ו, רצוני להביא לתשומת לבו, אף שבטח יודע בלאו הכי, כי עולי רומני' ובסרבי' העמידו ישיבה בקרית גת ובעזרת צאצאי חב"ד ואנשי חב"ד הנמצאים שם במספר חשוב היתה הישיבה לסניף ישיבת תומכי תמימים דלוד. ואף שתקותי שבתור יו"ר עושה כל מה שבידו למלוי צרכיהם של עולים חדשים אלה, ובפרט בנוגע לישיבה, לא באתי אלא להעדפה, שבודאי יש לכ' השפעה ואפשרות יתרה ותקותי שינצלן במדה המקסימלית למלוי צרכיהם המרובים הגשמיים והרוחניים גם יחד. ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בזה ג"כ.
