I bless you and greet you,

I am responding to your letter of 31/3, with what was enclosed (note 1: A contribution to tzedakah*), which has been forwarded to the bureau of discreet activities (note 2: Granting tzedakah* without it being publicized), which is one of the most elevated forms of tzedakah* — a mitzvah* that is compared to the totality of the mitzvos* (note 3: Which must therefore also possess this quality of discretion). You conclude your letter by saying that there is in this a form of gratitude toward me.

You could, however, express your gratitude in a more elevated manner by helping me in my mission — which is, in reality, the role of every Jewish man and every Jewish woman — the dissemination and strengthening of Yiddishkeit* by drawing close the hearts of the children of Yisrael* upon whom you exercise your influence to our Father Who is in Heaven. For this, it is appropriate to emphasize to them and make them aware of the profound necessity of a way of life conforming, on a daily basis, to the teaching of our Torah*, Torah* of life — in a warm and pleasant manner, with words that emanate from the heart and that penetrate into the heart of the person who hears them. And it is also regarding this that it is said: "Nothing can withstand the will." With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

במענה למכתבה מיום 3/13 עם המצורף אליו, שנמסר ללשכת חשאין, שהיא מהמדרגות הכי נעלות במצות הצדקה השקולה כנגד כל המצות.

ומסיימת בו, שהאמור הוא כעין הודאה לי,

ובידה להביע הודאה בצורה עוד נעלית ע"י העזר בעבודתי שהוא באמת תפקיד כל איש ואשה הישראלים, והוא הפצת היהדות והחזקתה ע"י קירוב לבן של בני ישראל, שהשפעתה עליהן, לאבינו שבשמים, אשר קירוב לב זה הוא ע"י שמעוררים אותם ומכירים אותם את גודל ההכרח של אורח חיים בחיי היום יומים, מתאים להוראת תורתנו תורת חיים, ובאופן לבבי ודרכי נועם, שאז דברים היוצאים מן הלב נכנסים ללב השומע, וגם על זה נאמר אין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.
