By the grace of Hashem,

22 Adar Sheni* 5719,

I greet you and bless you,

After a particularly long interruption, I received your letter of 17 (note 1: The Rebbe writes Tov*, "good," a word whose numerical value is seventeen) Adar Sheni*, requesting a blessing. It will be read, at a propitious moment, at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us.

It is surely unnecessary to remind you that the addition to the dissemination of the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*) outward is the profound role of every Chassid*, especially a former student of the Yeshivah*, and even more so when he is the "master of the place" (note 3: The Rav* of his community) — that is, its owner, according to the explanation of the Alter Rebbe* (note 4: See, on this subject, letters nos. 4818 and 6232). And the result is commensurate with the effort (note 5: Literally, "the mark on the camel's back depends on the weight of the burden"). May Hashem multiply His blessings in all your needs, material and spiritual. With my blessing to give good tidings,

ובודאי למותר לעוררו, שכל הוספה בעניני הפצת המעינות חוצה, שזהו מתפקידו הפנימי של כאו"א מאנ"ש, ועאכו"כ של התמימים וביותר המשרתים בקדש מרא דאתרא, שכפירוש רבנו הזקן, ענינו שהוא הבע"ב של המקום, ולפום גמלא שיחנא, יוסיף השי"ת בברכותיו בהמצטרך בגשמיות וברוחניות.
