To the Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes

himself to communal needs, Rav* N. N. (note 1: Rav* Nissan Nemanov, director of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch of Brunoy, in the Paris region),

I greet you and bless you,

I received your letter from erev Shabbos* and the one that preceded it. In the meantime, you must have received my regards through the Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, is full of zeal and has many accomplishments, Rav* Michael (note 2: Presumably Rav* Michael Lipsker, the Rebbe's emissary in Meknes, Morocco). May Hashem grant that he accede to my request and that he write, that he send here good tidings from the places he visits during his trip (note 3: From Morocco to the United States). Naturally, this request concerns, first and foremost, the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* (note 4: In this case, that of Brunoy).

We are at the end of Adar* and entering Nissan*. The entirety of this month is "the head of the month," according to the explanation of the Shnei Luchos HaBris*, cited by Chassidus*. An explanation on this was given last year. Indeed, it is not forbidden to work on Rosh Chodesh*. Such activity is permitted. Nevertheless, a text explains at length, elsewhere — the Or HaTorah*, in the commentary on the Chassidic* discourse entitled "Tomorrow will be Rosh Chodesh*" — that it is not a "day of action." May it therefore concretely be so in all the activities of the Chassidim* and, obviously, of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*. Thus one will be able to flee, to leave Mitzrayim* and the barriers, including their most subtle form. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

ויה"ר שתמולא בקשתי להביא בשו"ט מכאן ולהביא ולכתוב בשו"ט משם ובמקומות שיהי' שם דרך נסיעתו, ומובן לכל לראש מישיבת תומכי תמימים.

וכיון שנמצאים אנו בסיום חודש אדר ונכנסים לחודש ניסן, אשר כל החודש הוא ראש חודש (של"ה מובא בדא"ח ונדבר הביאור אשתקד) שענין ר"ח, שאף שאינו באיסור מלאכה ויש בו מעשה, בכ"ז אינו בבחינת יום המעשה כמבואר במ"א בארוכה [מהם באוה"ת בי' דד"ה מחר חדש], יהי' כן בפועל אפילו בעניני מעשה דכל אנ"ש, ובענינים דתו"ת בפשיטות וממילא תהי' הבריחה ויציאה ממצרים וגבולים גם באופן דדקות.
