accomplishments and virtuous conduct,

Rav* Yosef Chaim (note 1: Rav* Y. C. Rosenfeld, of San Francisco. See, concerning him, letter no. 6612) HaKohen, and his wife,

the Rebbetzin* Malka Reizel,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter from erev Shabbos*, with what was enclosed. You ask me whether you should undertake the study of the laws of divorce. You surely have a fixed time for the study of Torah*, including its revealed dimension. You can indeed devote this time to these laws. I also took note with pleasure, in your letter, of the list of Chassidic* farbrengens* that were held in recent days. I am surprised that you do not specify whether, subsequently, the press reported on these farbrengens*. For this is one of the means of attracting a wider public to the next farbrengen* and, more broadly, to the activities being organized. This is self-evident. Furthermore, it seems that the check sent in connection with the staff (note 2: The "pleasant staff" discussed in letter no. 6612) has not yet arrived for the time being. Naturally, this is surprising, but you surely have this information.

Certain accomplishments require no effort whatsoever. Despite this, people do not do them, for lack of knowledge. I refer in particular to the sale of chametz* (note 3: By every individual during the festival of Pesach*, in order not to transgress the prohibition of seeing or possessing chametz* in one's home during this period). It would therefore be advisable to have all this (note 4: A power of attorney allowing one to entrust this sale to a Rav*) printed in the newspapers, emphasizing clearly that this procedure requires absolutely no effort. Naturally, this must not deprive anyone of the means of earning a livelihood (note 5: For example, that of a person who would charge for rendering this service). But in fact, if the proper publicity is done, this will surely not be the case — on the contrary (note 6: Thanks to the additional people who will be attracted to this practice). This is self-evident. With my blessing to give good and joyful tidings of all this,

במ"ש האם יתחיל ללמוד הלכות גיטין, הנה בודאי יש אצלו קביעות עתים בלימוד התורה ובזה לימוד נגלה דתורה, וקביעות זו הרי יכולה להיות בהלכות האמורות.

נעם לי לקרות במכתבו רשימת ההתועדויות שהיו במשך ימים שעברו, ופלא שאיננו מזכיר האם נדפס אח"כ במכ"ע וכיו"ב ע"ד ההתועדויות, שהרי זוהי אחת הדרכים להמשיך (צוציען) מחוג יותר רחב להתועדות הבאה ולהפעולות בכלל, וק"ל.

כמדומה שעד עתה לא נתנו לגבי' את ההמחאה שנשלחה בקשר עם ענין המקל, ומובן שפלא הדבר ובטח יודע בזה.

ישנם ענינים שאין דורשים טרחה כלל, ובכ"ז אינם נעשים ע"י עמא דבר מפני חסרון ידיעה, וכוונתי לענין מכירת חמץ, וכדאי הי' שידפיסו עד"ז במכ"ע, הנקודה בהענין שאין בזה כל טרחא כלל וכלל וכו'.

ומובן שיש להזהר בזה שלא יגע בפרנסתו של מי שהוא, אבל באם יהי' פרסום מתאים לא לבד שלא יוגרע בפרנסתו של מי שהוא אלא אדרבה, וק"ל.
