By the grace of Hashem,

7 Nissan* 5719,

To the participants in the Chassidic* farbrengen*, on the occasion of the Hilula*

of the Rebbe Rashab*, whose merit protects us, leader of Yisrael*,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I received your letter of this propitious day (note 1: That of the Hilula* of the Rebbe Rashab*), a letter of blessing. Thus, "I have taken a blessing and I shall return it" (note 2: Based on the verse Balak 23:20), as it is said (note 3: Lech Lecha* 12:3): "I will bless those who bless you." May each of you therefore receive the blessing of the Holy One, blessed be He. This blessing combines, indeed, two qualities — that of the blessing (note 4: Which reveals below what is found above) and that of prayer (note 5: Which arouses in Hashem a new Will, as it is said: "May it be Your Will"), as explained at length in the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "Rabbi Yehoshua Ben Levi said," of 5629 (note 6: 1869, by the Rebbe Maharash*).

One confers merit upon propitious days — those of the month of Nissan*, which is entirely a Rosh Chodesh*, as the Shnei Luchos HaBris* explains in Parshas* Bo*, cited by the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "This month is for you," of 5626 (note 7: 1866, by the Rebbe Maharash*). Indeed, it is said of this month and of everything concerning it: "This month is for you." This, as our Sages* emphasize, reveals what constitutes the distinctiveness of the children of Yisrael*. This is self-evident.

The one whose Hilula* we celebrate declared, at the time of his passing: "I ascend to heaven and I leave you my manuscripts." He thereby showed that his writings compensated for and replaced his ascent to heaven.

Our Sages* say that "the righteous resemble their Creator," of Whom tractate Shabbos* 105a says: "I, My soul — I have inscribed it and given it" (note 8: In the Torah*), as explained in chapter 47 of the Tanya*, citing the holy Zohar*. His merit will therefore protect all those who devote themselves to his teaching. And "great is study that leads to action" — to advancement according to his directives and his practices, so that this leader of Yisrael* arouse increased mercy, that you obtain the satisfaction of all your needs, spiritual and material. With my blessing for a kosher and joyous festival of Pesach*, as well as to give good tidings of all this,

וברך לקחתי ואשיבנו, אשר כמ"ש ואברכה מברכיך, יתברכו כאו"א מהם בברכתו של הקב"ה.

אשר שתי המעלות בה, מעלת הברכה ומעלת התפלה, כמבואר בארוכה בד"ה אריב"ל תרכ"ט.

ומגלגלין זכות ליומין זכאין, ימי חדש ניסן, אשר כל ימי חדש זה הם בבחי' ראש חדש כמ"ש בשל"ה (פרשה בא) הובא בד"ה החדש הזה לכם תרכ"ו, אשר החדש וכל הענינים אשר בו, עליהם נאמר החדש הזה לכם, שכדברי רז"ל, הוראה בזה שמיוחדים בזה בני ישראל, וק"ל.

וזכות בעל ההילולא אשר אמר לפני הסתלקותו, איך גיי אין הימעל און די כתבים לאז איך אייך (אנכי עולה השמימה והכתבים הנני משאיר לכם) שמודגש בזה שכתבי דא"ח שלו, הרי זהו בחילוף וממלא זה שעולה השמימה.

וכהודעת רז"ל, שצדיקים דומים לבוראם, אשר עליו נאמר אנא נפשי כתבית יהבית (שבת ק"ה א') [ראה תניא פרק מ"ז בשם זהר הק'], תעמוד לכל העוסקים בתורתו, וגדול תלמוד שמביא לידי מעשה, הליכה בהדרכותיו והנהגותיו, לתוספת התעוררות ר"ר מנשיא ישראל בהמצטרך להם מנפש ועד בשר.

בברכת חג הפסח כשר ושמח ולבשו"ט בכל הנ"ל.
