I greet you and bless you,

You ask me whether to consider purchasing a house in the place where you currently reside, or whether it is preferable to rent an apartment. In general, a purchase is wise. Nevertheless, one must take into account the argument that it is necessary to avoid all ostentation.

You tell me about your eldest grandson who studies the Torah* with you and does not attend the Yeshivah*. I became aware of this some time ago, but my principle is not to intervene as long as I am not consulted. That is why I did not write to you. However, it is quite clear that this is by no means satisfactory — for this young man, for his brothers, and for his parents. One must, furthermore, take into account the impression this gives externally, for various reasons that you will understand and that are self-evident. Moreover, you know the extent to which our masters gave of themselves for the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*. To someone like you, it is surely unnecessary to say more.

At a propitious moment, I will mention your names, as well as all those you cite, at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, so that each one obtain the satisfaction of his needs. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

במ"ש אודות נכדו הבכור שלומד עם כת"ר שי' ולא בישיבה, זה מכבר נודעתי עד"ז, אלא כיון ששיטתי לא להתערב טרם ששואלים אותי, לא כתבתי בזה, אבל מובן שאין הענין נכון וטוב כלל וכלל, בהנוגע להנער עצמו וכן בהנוגע לאחיו וגם להוריו שיחיו, נוסף על הרושם שעושה כלפי חוץ, ומכמה טעמים מובנים וגם פשוטים, ובפרט היודע מס"נ רבה"ק בהנוגע לתומכי תמימים ובודאי לדכוותי' האריכות בזה אך למותר.

בעת רצון יזכירוהו ואת כל אלה שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע כאו"א להמצטרך לו.
