To the Rabbi, distinguished Chassid*, who fears Hashem,
Rav Y. Y. [1],

Greetings and blessings,

I asked your son, the Chassid who fears Hashem, student of the Yeshivah, Rav Dovid, to write down what he remembers of my father [2]. In our discussion, he indicated to me that you must have many more memories than he. I would therefore ask you, when you have the time, kindly to note down what you recall, in the most precise manner possible, for detail must be encouraged in this matter. You will send me these notes and I thank you in advance.

I have also heard that you were able to bring from the country in which you previously resided [3] my father's shofar*. The Chassid Rav Dov Ber Haskind [4] is to return here at the beginning of the month of Elul. I would be most grateful if you would entrust to him this shofar. Of course, I will cover all expenses that this will entail, according to what you indicate to me. Moreover, I thank you very much for all this.

On this occasion, I would like to express my satisfaction and pleasure at the conduct of Rav Dovid. May the blessings that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, granted and still grants, to him and to your other children, be fully realized.

שלום וברכה!

בקשתי את בנו הוו"ח אי"א וכו' התמים מהו"[ר] דוד שי' לרשום את זכרונותיו ע"ד אבא מורי ז"ל. ובמשך דבורי אמר לי, אשר לפי השערתו זוכר ויודע כב' הרבה יותר ע[דכ]"ז ולכן בקשתי בזה בעת הפנאי להעלות את כהנ"ל על הכתב בפרטיות האפשריות כי הרבוי בזה ישובח, ולשלוח לי ורוב ת"ח ע"ז מראש.

כן נודע לי זה מכבר, אשר עלתה בידו להביא ממדינתו מלפנים את השופר של אאמו"ר ז"ל ובאשר הוו"ח וכו' מוהר"ר דובער שי' חאסקינד נוסע תחלת אלול הבע"ל לכאן צלחה, אסיר תודה אהי' לו אם ימסור ע"י הנ"ל את השופר. ומובן אשר כל ההוצאות הכרוכות בכל הנ"ל עלי לסלקן ע"פ הוראתו נוסף על תודתי הרבה עכ"ז.

בהזדמנות זו אביע כאן רגשי הקורת רוח והנאתי מהנהגת בנו מהור"ד שי' ויה"ר אשר יקויימו בו ובשאר ילדיו שי' ברכות כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ אשר ברכם ומברכם גם עתה על מילואן.
