I greet you and bless you,

I am very surprised not to have received your letters or tidings from you for a very long time already. Certainly, I receive some information indirectly, but what one obtains through an intermediary cannot be compared to what is received directly. No doubt you will complete all of this at the next opportunity.

It is surely unnecessary to repeat once more what I have already written to you some time ago. You must multiply your actions for our Torah* and its mitzvos* — for yourself and for others. It is quite evident that you possess the necessary strength for this. As the Tanya* explains, this is an inheritance that we received from our ancestors. Now, even a day-old child is fully qualified to receive an inheritance. How much more so is this the case for one who had the merit of being a student of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*, who had knowledge of the Chassidus* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, leader of Yisrael*. This acquisition, above, is immutable, and it is awakened below through an effort of man (note 1: Literally, "an arousal from below") or even at the initiative of Hashem (note 2: Literally, "an arousal from above"). In contrast, all discouragement, all renunciation emanates from a source that is not pure.

We have passed the month of Nissan* and find ourselves in the month of radiance (note 3: Iyar*). One then frees oneself from barriers and constraints, one prepares to receive the Torah*. This will therefore be, for you as well, the beginning of freedom. Its conclusion and its purpose will be attained shortly. Nothing can withstand the will, especially when one receives assistance to achieve it. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

לפלא גדול שזה זמן רב ביותר שאין ממנו כל מכתבים וידיעות. ואף שקבלתי ידיעות אודות מן הצד, כמובן שאינה דומה ידיעה המתקבלת מכלי שני מאשר ידיעות באופן ישר, ובטח ימלא בהזדמנות הבאה. ותקותי שלמותר לחזור עוה"פ על מה שכתבתי לו מכבר, אשר עליו להוסיף בפעולות בתורתנו ובמצותי' בהנוגע לעצמו ובהנוגע גם להזולת ומובן וגם פשוט שהכחות על זה ניתנו לו, וכמבואר בתניא אשר ירושה היא לנו מאבותנו, ואפילו תינוק בן יומו יורש בהחלט הוא עאכו"כ זה שזכה ללמוד בישיבה הק' תומכי תמימים שמע דא"ח מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל, שענין זה למעלה נצחי הוא ולמטה מתעורר אם באתעדל"ת או גם באתעדל"ע, אבל כל נפילת רוח ומה גם יאוש ח"ו - מקורם לא טהור הוא.

וכיון שבאים אנו מחדש ניסן ונמצאים בחדש זיו, יציאה ממצרים וגבולים והכנה לקבלת התורה, יהי' זה זמן ג"כ אצלו התחלת החירות וגמרה ותכליתה בקרוב, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון, ובפרט כשמסייעים לו.
