may Hashem grant you long life,

I bless you and greet you,

I learned with pleasure that your next annual dinner will take place on Tuesday, 10 Sivan*. It occurs in the days following the festival of the receiving of the Torah*, with joy and in a profound manner, according to the formula of the blessing given by my father-in-law, the Rebbe. I therefore wish to hope that the profound joy of the festival of Shavuos* will be expressed, in the proper manner, during this dinner. An expression of our masters and leaders, particularly when its content is a blessing, is necessarily precise, considered, and exact (note 1: See, on this subject, letter no. 6297). In this case, the Torah* must therefore be received with joy and with depth. Now, these two notions are connected. The joy of the fact that Hashem has chosen us as His holy people, has enabled us to draw near to Him, to cleave to Him through the practice of the Torah* and the mitzvos*, must awaken in us the desire, the profound motivation enabling us to accept this Torah*, so that it permeates us, penetrates us, and conditions everything that constitutes our daily existence. It would therefore be inconceivable to consider the Torah* and the mitzvos* as a burden, Heaven forbid, or as an acquired habit maintained without enthusiasm and without ardor. Everything that concerns the Torah* is lived deeply and engenders joy, which makes it possible to overcome all trials and all difficulties.

The same applies to every initiative taken with the aim of strengthening and developing the Torah* and the educational institutions based on sacred values, in an increased manner, so that these benefit fully from the blessing to receive the Torah* joyfully and with depth. May Hashem grant you success in your action (note 2: On behalf of the Yeshivah*), as well as in what concerns you personally, with all the members of your family. And may joy always reign in your home, material and spiritual at once. With my blessing to give good tidings and to know success,

בנועם קבלתי את הידיעה אודות מסיבת הצהרים השנתית שתהי׳

ביום שלישי י׳ סיון ,וכיון שהיא נערכת בימים השייכים עדיין לחג של

קבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות -כנוסח הברכה של כ״ק מו׳׳ח

אדמו״ר -רצוני לקוות שהשמחה הפנימית של חג השבועות תבוא לידי

ביטוי ,באופן המתאים ,במסיבה.

ביטוי של רבותינו נשיאינו ,בפרט נוסח של ברכה ,הרי הוא מדוייק

מחושב ומדוקדק:קבלת התורה צריכה להיות הן בשמחה והן בפנימיות ,ושני

הדברים קשורים זה בזה .השמחה שהקב״ה בחר בנו כעמו הקדוש,

ואפשר לנו להתקרב ולהתקשר אליו באמצעות תורה ומצוות ,צריכה

לעורר בנו תשוקה ושאיפה פנימית ,לקבל את התורה כך שהתורה תקיף

ותחדור ותמסד את כל הענינים בחיי היום יום שלנו .במילא ,אין מה

לדבר על התיחסות לתורה ומצוות בתור עול ,חלילה ,או הרגל רגיל ללא

חיות; כל ענין של תורה נעשה חוי׳ פנימית משמחת ,וכל הנסיונות

והקשיים נעלמים.

כך גם כל פעילות לחזק ולהפיץ תורה ומוסדות חינוך על טהרת

הקדש ,שצריכה להעשות בשמחה ובפנימיות .וכיון שמדובר אודות רגש

פנימי ,מצטיינת האשה היהודי׳ בזה במיוחד.

לכן הנני מקוה שכל אחת מהמשתתפות תמשיך את עבודתה הטובה

בהתלהבות גדלה והולכת ,לסייע לחנך את הדור הצעיר בחינוך על טהרת
