By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I received your letter from erev* Shabbos*, in which you report your discussion with the doctor who treats your daughter. May Hashem grant that you give me good tidings of all this. You will tell me not that there has been a small positive development in this matter, but rather that there is a significant one, growing ever greater.

One confers merit upon propitious days, and you wrote your letter on the eve of Shabbos* Parshas* Naso*, "You shall raise the head," while the response is given to you at the beginning of Parshas* Behaaloscha* (note 1: See, on this subject, letter no. 6902), "When you raise the lights" — a verse about which Rashi* explains: "Until the flame rises on its own" — in this case, that of "the candle of Hashem, which is the soul of man." This soul "rises on its own" precisely when it finds itself in a physical body. Its purpose is, indeed, to illuminate, both materially and spiritually. In such a case, spirituality elevates matter, the body refines it, transforms it, and brings about its elevation, as the Likkutei Torah* of the Alter Rebbe* explains in the Chassidic* discourse entitled Behaaloscha*, which you should consult. Your lineage will come to your aid in accomplishing all this. With my blessing to give good tidings of all that has been said,

P.S.: Of course, if I become aware of a treatment for this matter (note 2: For the condition from which the daughter suffers), I will let you know — without making a vow of it — as you write in your letter.

ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בזה, לא רק שמורגש איזה שינוי לטוב קצת, אלא שזה הקצת גדול יהי' וילך הלוך וגדול.

ומגלגלין זכות ליומין זכאין שכתב מכתבו בעש"ק נשא את ראש והמענה ר"פ בהעלותך את הנרות ופירש"י עד שתהא שלהבת עולה מאלי' בנר ה' נשמת אדם, ועולה מאלי' דוקא בגוף הגשמי, שזהו תפקיד הנשמה להאיר ברוחניות ובגשמיות גם יחד, שאז הרוחניות מרומם את הגשמיות והגוף מבררו מזככו ומעלהו, וכמבואר הענין בלקו"ת לרבנו הזקן ד"ה בהעלותך, יעו"ש, וגזע צור מחצבתו מסייעתו.
