Igrot Kodesh · Letter 6946 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

21 Tammuz* 5719,

Brooklyn,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 18 Tammuz*, in which you tell me that you plan to go to the resort near Antwerp (note 1: A spa town), and then to continue and bring to completion, in Antwerp, the purpose of your visit (note 2: Fundraising for a certain institution). This is judicious and I have already explained that, very often, one can accomplish, in places of rest and cure, much more than in the place of residence of the people — both to collect material goods (note 3: To collect funds for an institution) and to sow spirituality (note 4: To transmit the values of the Torah). Indeed, these people are more available and they even rejoice at new encounters and at exchanging with those they do not know, whereas they are not disturbed, in this place of rest, by the concerns of home or work.

May Hashem grant that very soon this period be transformed into joy and gladness and that the promise be fulfilled according to which we will receive "an inheritance without limit." With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

במענה למכתבו מי"ח תמוז, בו כותב הסברא לבקר בהמקום למנוחה אשר בסביבות אנטווערפען, וכן לשהות עוד באנטווערפען בשביל להמשיך ולגמור מלאכת בקורו מאז.

ונכון הדבר, וכבר מלתי אמורה, שלפעמים הכי קרובות, במקומות מנוחה (קור ארט) יש לפעול יותר מאשר במקום דירת האנשים, הן בהנוגע צו קלייבען גשמיות וכן בהנוגע צו זייען רוחניות, כי שם פנוים הם יותר ואדרבה שמחים לחדשות ופנים חדשות, וכמה ענינים בביתם ומסחרם, שאין מבלבלים במקום המנוחה.

ויהי רצון שבין המצרים אלו נזכה בעגלא דידן שיהפכו לששון ולשמחה ולקיום היעוד דנחלה בלי מצרים.
