By the grace of Hashem,

23 Tammuz* 5719,

Brooklyn,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of the 18th of the month of the deliverance (note 1: Of the Frierdiker Rebbe*, that of Tammuz*), in which you briefly describe the Chassidic* farbrengens* of the festival of the liberation of 12 and 13 Tammuz*. Then you conclude by giving me good tidings.

May Hashem grant that you announce to me still more good tidings, of your communal accomplishments and your personal achievements, particularly in the central domain — the necessity for each person to devote himself to the spreading of the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*) outward. This spreading, in general, and especially during this period (note 3: Between 17 Tammuz and 9 Av), is timely and propitious. Indeed, "it is because of our sins that we have been exiled from our land" (note 4: Precisely during this period). To rectify this situation, one must therefore regret what has occurred and reveal everything anew, from the original source. In fact, the study of the Torah* enables one to obtain such a revelation, to obtain from it the light, as well as the luminary which, in our era, has been revealed through Chassidus*. ויהי רצון שימשיך בבשו"ט בענינים הכללים והפרטים גם יחד, ומהם בנקודה התיכונה, שכאו"א מתעסק בהפצת המעינות חוצה, אשר הפצת המעינות בכלל ובפרט בימי בין המצרים, ענין ושעת הכושר לעורר אשר מפני חטאינו גלינו מארצנו וכו', והתקון לזה ע"י התשובה על הנ"ל והמשכת כל הענינים משרשם ומקורם, שבלימוד התורה ה"ז המשכת התורה ואור התורה - מהמאור שבה שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות.
