Igrot Kodesh · Letter 6951 — Tzedakah
Volume 18 · Letter 450
By the grace of Hashem,
24 Tammuz* 5719,
Brooklyn,
I greet you and bless you,
You refer to the fasts of Tisha B'Av* and Yom Kippur*. It is quite evident that one must fast the entire day, as our Torah*, Torah* of life, commands us. By reducing your work on that day to the greatest extent possible, and especially by occupying yourself with what will prevent you from thinking about the fast, you will manage to bear it.
But moreover, you should also consult a doctor. Indeed, there exist tablets that reduce appetite for several hours or perhaps even for a longer duration. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,
