I bless you and greet you,

I am responding to your letter of 21/7, in which you describe to me what you have experienced. You tell me that you wish to adopt a religious way of life, to devote yourself to the education of Jewish children in the spirit of the Tradition of Yisrael, but you fear the influence of your surroundings. Now, in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, there exist several possibilities of living in a religious environment. And an Injunction of our Torah*, Torah* of life, in accordance with the teaching of the great master, the Rambam*, demands that one attach oneself to the righteous, that one be constantly in the company of the Sages*, that one distance oneself from the wicked, that one go to a place whose inhabitants are virtuous and have good conduct. And before even stating this principle, he gives the reason: in a natural manner, indeed, a person is influenced, in his opinions as in his actions, by his friends and his acquaintances.

Now, the same applies to religious education. Many schools seek teachers who work in this spirit, even granting them a proper salary and good working conditions. You already possess certain experience in this matter and, with effort, you will surely find the appropriate place, where you will use your skills to draw the hearts of the children of Yisrael closer to our Father Who is in Heaven. It is certain that the merit of this sacred mission will protect you in all that concerns you personally. In this way, you will know inner tranquility, a true tranquility. You will organize your life in a favorable manner and, in particular, you will find a match that suits you in every respect. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

במענה למכתבה מיום 12/7, בו כותבת ראשי פרקים מאשר עבר עלי' ואשר שואפת לחיים דתיים ולהתמסר לחינוך ילדים ילדי ישראל ברוח ישראל סבא, אלא שיראה מהשפעת הסביבה.

והנה בארצנו הקדושה תבנה ותכונן על ידי משיח צדקנו, כמה אפשריות ישנן לדור בסביבה דתית, והרי ציווי תורתנו תורת חיים הוא, וכהוראת המורה הגדול הוא הרמב"ם, צריך אדם להתחבר לצדיקים ולישב אצל החכמים תמיד וכו' ויתרחק מן הרשעים כו' ילך למקום שאנשי' צדיקים ונוהגים בדרך טובים, ולפני זה מבאר הטעם, כי - דרך ברייתו של אדם להיות נמשך בדיעותיו ובמעשיו אחר ריעיו ומכריו.

ועד"ז הוא ג"כ בהנוגע להתעסקות בחינוך דתי, אשר כמה וכמה מוסדות דתיים מחפשים מורות ברוח האמור במשכורת מתאימה ובתנאים מתאימים.

וכיון שכבר יש לה ותק בשטח החינוך, בודאי שבהשתדלות תמצא מקום מתאים לנצל כשרונותי' בחינוך המקרב את לבם של בני ישראל לאבינו שבשמים, ובודאי שזכות עבודת הקדש תעמוד לה בעניני' הפרטים, לשלוה פנימית שלוה אמיתית ולסידור מתאים בחיים בכלל ובנקודה התיכונה שידוך טוב בכל הפרטים.
