I greet you and bless you,

After a particularly long interruption, I have duly received your letter of 3 Elul*. You tell me that you lack spirituality and you ask me to indicate a path to you. You will consult, on this subject, the Mateh Ephraim*, chapter 581, and in particular the teaching of the Maharil*, according to which the month of Elul* is distinguished by the fact that, in every domain where it is possible to examine and repair, it is then necessary to do so. Various texts of Chassidus*, from our masters, explain in what manner one can accomplish this repair. Several elder Chassidim* are in your vicinity and you will be able to consult them. And you know the Halachic* ruling according to which nothing withstands the will.

You inform me of the birth of your son, with Mazel Tov*. May Hashem grant that you lead him to the Torah*, to the wedding canopy, and to good deeds, in expansiveness. With my blessing to give good tidings, to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

יעוין מטה אפרים סימן תקפ"א [וביחוד ההוראה ממהרי"ל] דחדש אלול מיוחד אשר כל שימצא שם בדק במצות לתקנם ואופן התקון הרי מבואר בתורת החסידות של רבותינו נשיאינו בכ"מ, והרי כמה מזקני אנ"ש בסביבתו ועמם יתדבר, וידוע הפס"ד דאין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.
