The second question you pose to me concerns the relocation of this man, at the request of his wife. You are right to say that it will be difficult for him to leave a place in which he has resided for some fifty years, all the more so since he finds there the means to earn his livelihood and has his commercial affairs there.

However, we have been warned against the suffering imposed on the wife, according to the Shulchan Aruch* of the Alter Rebbe*, at the end of the Laws of Deception. Indeed, women have a gentle nature. He must therefore appease the mind of his wife in other domains and not content himself with convincing her by advancing rational arguments, offering her only a logical approach. With my blessing to give good tidings, to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

... בשאלתו השני' אודות העתקה ל... ע"פ בקשתה של זוג' תחי'.

צדק בהטענה שקשה לעקור מקום דירתו ממקום שדר בו כחמשים שנה, ובפרט שענין פרנסתו שם, ובית מסחרו שם, אלא שכיון שהוזהרנו ביחוד על אונאת האשה (ראה בשו"ע רבנו הזקן הלכות אונאה בסופם) כי רכות בטבע וכו', יש לפייס דעתה של זוגתו תחי' של הנ"ל בענינים אחרים, ולא להסתפק בשכנוע ע"י טענות שכליות של המוח בלבד.
