By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter in which you ask me how you should organize your studies in the near future. You know my opinion in this matter, which is precise and well-founded and has always been as follows. Each young man in this country must devote at least a few years to the study of our holy Torah*, without mixing it with secular studies. Your letter seems to indicate that, until now, you have always studied both. My view is therefore very clear. You will organize your studies in the future so as to devote your time to the study of the Torah*, for at least three or four years, with enthusiasm and ardor, to the exclusion of all other study. And nothing withstands the will.

It would be good to have your Tefillin* checked. Likewise, each weekday, after the morning prayer, you will recite Tehillim* according to their monthly division. With my blessing to give good tidings, to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

במענה למכתבו בו שואל דעתי בהנוגע לסדר לימודו בעתיד הקרוב.

וידועה דעתי מפורטה ומיוסדת מאז, שעל כאו"א מבחורים ואברכים במדינה זו, להקדיש איזה שנים לכה"פ ללמוד תורתנו הק' מבלי לימודי חול להבדיל, וכיון שכנראה ממכתבו עד עתה למד תמיד בערבוביא, הרי דעתי ברורה ע"פ הנ"ל, שכנ"ל יסדר לימודו בעתיד באופן שלכה"פ ב' וג' שנים יהי' זמנו מוקדש ללימוד התורה בהתמדה ושקידה מבלי לימודים אחרים, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.

מהנכון אשר יבדקו את התפילין שלו וכן אשר בכל יום חול לאחרי תפלת הבקר, יאמר השיעור תהלים חדשי - כפי שנחלק התהלים לימי החדש.
