I greet you and bless you,

The electoral period has passed, and no doubt also its Isru Chag* (note 2: The assessment that follows it, as Isru Chag follows the festival). I therefore take the liberty of returning to the content of our discussion when you were here, and essentially to two points: the city of Kiryat Gat and the Chabad* Yeshivah* (note 3: Of this city. See, on this subject, letter no. 6729) that is located there. I hope that as president of the immigrants from Romania (note 4: Many of whom then resided in this city), you are intervening in this matter to the fullest extent possible, as well as to assist Kfar Chabad* Beis (note 5: See, on this subject, letter no. 6018, addressed to the same recipient). I have written more extensively on this subject to our friend Mr. Shazar (note 6: This is letter no. 7084). I will therefore say no more here. Indeed, I have good hope that you still bear in mind the content of our discussion.

I seize this occasion to inform you that this year is the bicentennial of the Hilloula* of the Baal Shem Tov*, which brings to mind the memories that are transmitted from generation to generation, that are evoked and awakened, particularly when this anniversary returns. For all that concerns Jews, the slogan that our Sages* report in the Mishnah* is: "the deed is essential." The purpose of these memories is therefore to inspire actions carried out in their spirit. And it is known that one of the first actions undertaken by the Baal Shem Tov*, even before his revelation, was the effort to support Jewish settlement, not only spiritual but also material, in the villages and the inns at the crossroads. There is here a teaching for each of us, and it is surely unnecessary to say more. With my respects and my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

I have learned, through the press, of the seminar for religious teachers. The information seemed to indicate that the union of Moshavim* was a participant. I would like to have details on this subject. I thank you in advance.

כיון שכבר עברה עונת הבחירות, ובטח גם ה"אסרו חג" שלה, הנני מרשה לעצמי לבוא עוד הפעם בענין תוכן שיחתנו כשהי' כאן, ובעיקר בענין ב' הנקודות, היינו, ענין קרית גת וישיבת חב"ד דשם, שתקותי שכ' בתור יו"ר עולי רומני' עושה בזה ככל האפשר, וכן בנוגע לעזרתו בענין כפר חב"ד ב', שבענין זה כתבתי בארוכה יותר לידידנו מר שז"ר שי', ולא אאריך כאן, כיון שתקותי שתוכן שיחתנו שמור בזכרונו.

בהזדמנות זו אציין כאן כי שנה זו היא שנת ה- 200 להסתלקות-הילולא של הבעל שם טוב, ומעוררת הזכרונות - הנמסרים מדור לדור, ונזכרים ומתעוררים בפרט בימי יובל. וכיון שהסיסמא בכל עניני היהודים היא, כדברי חכמים במשנתם, המעשה הוא העיקר, הרי תכלית הזכרונות שיביאו לידי מעשים ברוחו. וידוע שאחת מפעולותיו הראשונות של הבעש"ט, עוד קודם התגלותו, היתה להשתדל לחזק ישובי היהודים בכפרים ובפונדקאות על פרשת דרכים, לא רק ברוחניות אלא גם בגשמיות. שמכאן הוראה לכל אחד מאתנו, והאריכות אך למותר.
