To the great Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and

devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Yaakov (note 1: Rav Y. Landa, of Bnei Brak*. See, regarding him, letters no. 5012 and 7352),

I greet you and bless you,

I hope that you are taking advantage of the days of this month, that of miracles and redemption, in which is found the Rosh Hashanah* of the teaching of Chassidus* and the Chassidic* ways (note 2: 19 Kislev, the date of the liberation of the Alter Rebbe from the Czarist prisons). This date is itself included in the Rosh Chodesh* which, for this reason, is called Rosh, the head, and not the beginning, as is explained regarding Rosh Hashanah* (note 3: The head of the year, which includes within it all its days). Furthermore, your city is the center of many Yeshivos*, and from what is said, one senses among their students a tendency to perceive the profound dimension of the Torah*, which, in our era, has been revealed through Chassidus*. With my respects and my blessing to give good tidings,

... תקותי אשר מנצלים ימי חדש זה, הוא חדש הנסים והגאולה, ובו ראש השנה לתורת החסידות ודרכי החסידות, והרי נכלל זה גם בראש החדש (שלכן נקרא ראש ולא תחלה, וכהביאור בהשם ראש השנה), ובפרט שהרי במחנם הט' מקום מרכזי לכו"כ ישיבות, וע"פ השמועה מורגש מפנה בין בני הישיבות לשמוע (דערהערן) בהנוגע לפנימיות התורה שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות.
