I greet you and bless you,

After a long interruption, I duly received your letter of 2 Kislev*, in which you inform me of your difficulties in earning a livelihood. Now, I have already written to several people that if one accustomed oneself to also announcing good news, to writing often to transmit them, the letters in which one expresses one's closeness or attachment by announcing news that is the opposite of good would diminish or even disappear. This is self-evident. In any case, you know that the best counsel that can be given in this matter is an addition to tzedakah*. However difficult the situation may be, you must accustom yourself to giving at least a few coins more than your previous practice. One of the propitious moments for this, every weekday, is the one preceding the morning prayer.

Another point, which is essential: you must strengthen your trust in Hashem, Who feeds and sustains each person with kindness, grace, benevolence, and mercy. How much more is this the case according to the concept of Divine Providence as defined by Chassidus*, emphasizing that it extends to each individual, down to the smallest detail. And you know the wondrous saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, printed in the HaYom Yom*, on the date of 28 Cheshvan*, according to which one thereby fulfills the Divine purpose. You will consult this text. And the firmness of this trust strengthens all this even more. Furthermore, we are in the month of Kislev*, and this year marks the bicentennial of the Hilloula* of the Baal Shem Tov*. Every addition, in particular to the study of the profound teaching of the Torah*, which in our era has been revealed through Chassidus* — which is the tree of life, in which there are no questionings, no veils, no concealments — elicits an increased blessing. With my blessing to give good tidings of all that has just been said,

הטלית ,ואם אין זה אלא חשש )בלתי מבוסס( ,הרי ליתר בטחון ,יכולה
לתרום שווי טלית לבית כנסת בו מתפללים כל יום ,או לתת במתנה
טלית לבית כנסת כזה ,שהחזן או מתפללי בית הכנסת ישתמשו בה.
