I bless you and greet you (note 1: This letter is addressed to a young girl),

1) I am responding to your letter, in which you discuss the rite of prayer. You ask me whether you should change the one to which you have been accustomed, which was in use among your parents. As is explained elsewhere, one cannot pass from the rite of the Ari* to the Sephardic* or Ashkenazic* rite (note 2: See, on this subject, letter no. 7032). Therefore, if you have made the firm decision of a stable and permanent change, you may do so. On the other hand, if this change is only of an ephemeral character, you will wait until you decide on an irrevocable change.

2) You also ask me what is the meditation that evokes joy, since it is said: "Serve Hashem with joy." The most immediate and favorable reflection in this matter can be deduced from the words of the Rambam*, at the end of his laws of the Lulav*: "When a man rejoices in fulfilling a mitzvah* or in loving Hashem as He requested, there is here an elevated form of the service of Hashem." The commentators, at this reference, explain all this.

3) You ask me how to organize your studies and how to invest yourself in them. It is clear that in this matter, you must take counsel with your teacher, who knows your personality, your state of mind, and who, moreover, desires your good. With my blessing to experience success in all this,

במענה למכתבה, בו כותבת אודות נוסח התפלה, האם תשנה מנוסח שהורגלה בנוסח הורי' שי'.

וכיון שעל פי המבואר במקום אחר, אין לשנות מנוסח האר"י לנוסח ספרד או אשכנז, לכן באם החליטה שתשנה בקביעות ולתמיד תעשה זה אבל באם השינוי הוא רק לזמן מוגבל, הרי תחכה עד שתבוא לידי החלטה לשנות לתמיד.

ב) שואלת, כיון שנצטוינו, עבדו את ה' בשמחה, על ידי איזה התבוננות, תגיע לשמחה זו.

התבוננות הכי קרובה ונכונה מובנת מדברי הרמב"ם (הלכות לולב, בסופן) וזה לשונו: השמחה שישמח אדם בעשיית מצוה ובאהבת הא-ל שצוה בהן, עבודה גדולה היא. ומבואר במפרשים שם.

ג) בשאלתה בסדר לימודי' ואיך להתרכז בלימודים.

- מובן שבזה עלי' להתייעץ עם המורה שלה, המכירה בה ותכונת נפשה ורוצה בטובתה.
