By the grace of Hashem,

8 Kislev* 5720,

To the group of participants in the study of our holy Torah*, on

the eve of the holy Shabbos*, in the holy city of Yerushalayim*,

may it be rebuilt and restored by our righteous Moshiach*,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter of the third day of Kislev*, the month of miracles and liberation. It was written by the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Naftali Tzvi Gottlieb, and it announces to me a good piece of news — the establishment of a study session in pairs during the propitious time mentioned above. Although you make no mention of it in this letter, you surely integrate into your study Chassidus*, which is the teaching of the Baal Shem Tov*, as emphasized by the letter of the Rebbe Rashab* printed in the HaYom Yom*, on the date of 19 Kislev*. As is known, the writings of the Arizal* demonstrate the necessity of studying the profound dimension of the Torah* during the holy Shabbos*.

May Hashem grant that this study be ever increasing, ever more luminous — in thought, in speech, and even in action. And may there be fulfilled through it the injunction: "You shall cleave to Him," according to the Likkutei Torah*, Parshas* Re'eh*, page 20b. This will also hasten the fulfillment of the promise according to which: "I will remove the spirit of impurity from the earth," as is explained at that reference. This will be realized, in particular, through the study of the profound teaching of the Torah* and the dissemination of its wellsprings. In this way, "the master shall come," the king Moshiach*. With my blessing to study the Torah* with fear of Hashem, with Chassidic* light and enthusiasm,

מאשר הנני קבלת המכתב מיום השלישי דחדש כסלו הוא חדש הנסים והגאולה, כתוב ע"י הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ מו"ה נפתלי צבי שי' גוטליב, מבשר טוב מקביעות לימוד בחבורה בעידנא רעוא הנ"ל.

ובודאי אף שאין מוזכר עד"ז במכתבם, לומדים ג"כ בתורת החסידות שהיא היא תורת הבעש"ט ז"ל (ככתוב באגה"ק של כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהרש"ב נ"ע, נדפס בהיום יום י"ט כסלו), וכידוע בכתבי האריז"ל אודות הכרח לימוד פנימיות התורה ביום הש"ק.

ויהי רצון שיהי' לימוד האמור באופן דמוסיף והולך מוסיף ואור במחשבה ודבור ועד למעשה, שהרי זהו תכלית הלימוד שמביא לידי מעשה, ויקוים ע"י הלימוד הענין דבו תדבקון (עיין לקו"ת ראה כ, ב) וגם זה יקרב היעוד דאת רוח הטומאה אעביר מן הארץ וגו' כמבואר שם, ובפרט ע"י הלימוד בפנימיות התורה הפצת המעינות דאז קאתי מר דא מלכא משיחא.
