Igrot Kodesh · Letter 712 — Health

Volume 3 · Letter 318

By the grace of Hashem,
9 Elul 5710,

To Madame ...,

I bless and greet you,

I reply to your letter, in which you tell me that the doctors recommend a surgical operation to you, and you ask my blessing.

You no doubt observe the Jewish custom according to which, before lighting the candles, one should give Tzedakah* into a charity box dedicated to Rabbi Meir Baal HaNess.

You have surely consulted specialist doctors, and this diagnosis was established by at least two of them.

If this is indeed the case, Hashem will grant that this operation go well, that you may announce to me good news and tell me that you have at last had a child.

With my blessing for a complete recovery and that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

Menachem Schneerson

I would have wished to know the composition of your family and its activity.
