By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 11 Teves*, in which you describe your state of health and your holy activity within the school of the network (note 1: Of the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* Lubavitch* schools in the Holy Land) located in your city. You observe success in the development of the school and the students, as you write. Without a doubt, the same is true for the studies. It is quite clear that this should encourage you, lift your morale, and confer upon you a true joy. Indeed, it is said: "You shall love Hashem your Elokim," and there is no greater joy than that which causes celestial satisfaction. The saying of the Baal Shem Tov* is well known (note 2: See, on this subject, letter no. 4539), according to which the love of the Holy One, blessed be He, for a Jew, whoever he may be, the pleasure He takes in bestowing good upon him — an education based on holy values, bringing the heart of Israel close to our Father Who is in Heaven — arouses the joy of Hashem our Elokim in a manner infinitely more intense than the happiness of parents and their love for their only son, born when they were of advanced age.

You will deduce from what has just been said that a good portion has been entrusted to you in this positive accomplishment. I have good hope that you will be comforted by this, that you will derive from it not only calm and enthusiasm, but also joy. This will bring you health, success in putting into practice the directives of the doctor, as you are indeed doing, according to what you write to me in this letter. At a propitious moment, your name will be mentioned near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us. Indeed, the schools of the network bear his name and are directed in his spirit. Working there will strengthen the immense compassion that he will reveal for you. I await good tidings of all this. במענה למכתבו מי"א טבת, בו כותב אודות מצב בריאותו ואודות פעולתו בקודש בבית ספר הרשת אשר ב...

וכיון שרואה הצלחה בהתפתחות בית הספר ובהתלמידים כפי שכותב, כן בודאי בהתפתחות הלימודים, בודאי ובודאי שזה צריך להוסיף בו עידוד רוח והרמת רוח ושמחה אמתית, שהרי עפ"י האמור ואהבת את ה' אלקיך אין לך שמחה גדולה מענין המביא שמחה למעלה. וכידוע פתגם הבעש"ט אשר אהבת הקב"ה לבן ישראל איזה שיהי' ונח"ר בטובתם חנוך על טהרת הקודש שמקרב לבן של ישראל לאבינו שבשמים, מביאה שמחה אצל ה' אלקינו שלא בערך גדולה יותר משמחת הורים ואהבתם לבנם יחידם שנולד להם לעת זקנותם.

מהאמור מובן שכשיתבונן בחלקו הטוב פעולתו האמורה, תקותי חזקה שייטיב לבו ויגרום בו לא רק מנוחה וטוב לבב אלא גם שמחה, וממילא תביא גם בריאות ובהצלחה במילוי הוראת הרופא שעושה כפי שכותב במכתבו זה.

בעת רצון יזכירוהו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, שעל שמו וברוחו מתנהלין בתי ספר הרשת, ועבודתו בהם תוסיף בההתעוררות ר"ר שלו, ואחכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור.
