To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Yitzchak Yaakov (note 1: Rav I. Y. Nelson, of Dallas. See, regarding him, letters no. 2300 and 3134),

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter of this Wednesday evening and the previous ones. I read with pleasure, at its conclusion, that the Jews of your city are currently making efforts to understand the difference between Israel and the nations. May Hashem grant that this understanding widen and deepen. Indeed, Tractate Pesachim* 104a defines seven categories of differences. Subsequently, they will perceive the one that exists between two forms of the sacred (note 2: For example, the difference between Shabbos* and the festival days). Now, understanding an idea enables one to bond with it, at least superficially. Happy, therefore, is the one who strives to disseminate our holy Torah*, Torah* of life, in every place one can reach, especially since you have the merit of observing that your words and your writings are heeded.

To pass from one idea to another, while remaining in the same context, we are approaching the 10th of Shevat*, date of the Hilloula* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us. You surely know some details of the life in this world of the one whose Hilloula* we celebrate. It would therefore be good to recount his work, with all the necessary explanations, in the domain of the Torah* and its Mitzvos*, the manner in which he risked his life for them. One will deduce how necessary it is that each of those present consent to an effort. Indeed, all have the possibility of acting in this matter, without any obstacle. May Hashem grant that you give me good tidings of all this, in good physical and moral health. With my blessing,

שלום וברכה!

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מאור ליום החמישי והקודמיו, ונעם לי לקרות בו בסיומו, אשר נשמעים היהודים במחנו עתה, להבין ההבדל בין ישראל לעמים וכו'.

ויהי רצון אשר תתגדל ההבנה ותתעמק, שהרי שבע הבדלות הן (פסחים קד, א) עד שישיגו גם ההבדלה בין קדש לקדש, והרי השגה בענין, הרי זוהי שייכות עכ"פ בדרך מקיף להענין, ואשרי כל אחד המשתדל בהפצת עניני תורתנו הק' תורת חיים בכל מקום שידו מגעת, ובפרט שזכה ונשמעים דבריו ככתבו.

ומענין לענין באותו ענין, כאשר מתקרבים אנו ליו"ד שבט הבע"ל, יום ההילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ובטח יודע כמה פרטים מחיי בעל ההילולא בעלמא דין, מהנכון שבהסברה מתאימה יספר להם מעבודתו של בעל ההילולא בעניני התורה ומצותי', ועד לסכנת נפשות ממש, שמזה מובן גודל החובה והשתדלות מצד כל אחד הנמצא במקום, שאפשרית מלאה בידו לעשות בזה מבלי כל מפריע וכו'.

ויהי רצון שבכל הנ"ל יבשר טוב מתוך בריאות הגוף ומנוחת הנפש.
