By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 25 Teves*, in which you briefly describe what has happened until now, to yourself and to your family. You have observed the kindnesses of Hashem, and your settlement in the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, went well. You ask me for advice on the activity to which you should now devote yourself. First and foremost, it is quite evident that you yourself and all the members of your family, among all those who concretely observe the kindnesses of Hashem, must express your gratitude or, according to the expression of our Sages*, bring a thanksgiving offering. As for you, you are in the first year of your settlement in the land "toward which the eyes of Hashem are always turned, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year." You will therefore perfect yourself in our holy Torah*, Torah* of life, and in the practice of its Mitzvos* in the best manner.

Consequently, my opinion is very clear. Until next Rosh Hashanah* and even until after the festival of Sukkos*, you must continue your studies at the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* of Lod, with zeal and great ardor. Not only will this not be an obstacle to a favorable settlement, allowing you to earn your livelihood thereafter, but moreover, you will thereby meet with increased success. This is so evident that no further explanation is necessary. I will only add that, according to the teaching of our masters, while studying yourself, with ardor and enthusiasm, the revealed part of the Torah* and Chassidus*, as I said, you must also devote a portion of your time to disseminating the wellsprings to the outside, within the framework of the activities conducted by the students of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* of Lod or the youth of the Chabad* association. You surely know of the three well-known studies pertaining to the Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*. At the very least, you will adopt them henceforth. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

במענה למכתבו מכ"ה טבת, בו כותב ראשי פרקים מאשר עבר עליו ועל משפחתו שי' עד עתה, ואשר ראו חסדי השי"ת שנתקיים ענין עלייתם לאה"ק ת"ו בשלום, ושואל עצתי במה עליו להתענין עתה.

והנה לכל לראש מובן וגם פשוט, שעליו ועל כאו"א מבני המשפחה, בתוככי כל אלו הרואים חסדי השי"ת במוחש, להביע תודתם או בסגנון חז"ל, להביא קרבן תודה, ובעניניו הוא, אשר שנה הראשונה לעלותו לארץ אשר עיני ה' אלקיך בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה, יקדיש להשתלמות בתוה"ק תורת חיים, ובהנוגע לקיום מצותי' כדבעי, ולכן עכ"פ (עד ראש השנה הבע"ל וגורר זה) עד לאחרי הימים הטובים סוכות הבע"ל, דעתי ברורה שילמוד בישיבת תומכי תמימים בלוד בהתמדה רבה ובשקידה, ובודאי שלא רק שלא יפריע זה להסתדרות טובה בפרנסה בעתיד אלא אדרבה תוסיף הצלחה בזה, ולרוב פשיטות האמור, אין צורך בבירור נוסף, ורק להוסיף אשר ע"פ הוראת רבותינו נשיאינו, ביחד עם לימודו לעצמו וכנ"ל בהתמדה ושקידה נגלה וחסידות, יקדיש מזמנו לפרקים מסוימים להפצת המעינות חוצה במסגרת פעולות תלמידי תומכי תמימים בלוד, צעירי אגודת חב"ד וכיו"ב.

בטח יודע משלשת השיעורים דחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים, ועכ"פ ישמור עליהם מכאן ולהבא.
