To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav Yehudah (note 1: Rav Y. Shmotkin, of Tel Aviv. See, regarding him, letters no. 6927, 7224, and 7368),

I greet you and bless you,

After a particularly long interruption, I duly received your letter of Thursday evening, the eve of 20 Shevat*. I am surprised that you say nothing of the day of the Hilloula* (note 2: Of the Frierdiker Rebbe*, the 10th of Shevat*). Without a doubt, you participated in the Chassidic* gathering on this occasion and you made good resolutions, whose impression will evidently be felt throughout the entire year.

You ask me how to arrange a Bar Mitzvah* whose date is the 15th of Nissan* (note 3: The first day of the festival of Pesach*). In any case, it is quite clear that on the day of the thirteenth birthday, a joyous celebration must be arranged, especially in light of what is explained by the Zohar Chadash*, on Parshas* Bereishis, showing the great joy inherent in such a day. Regarding the feast, in which many people could participate, you will take counsel on the spot, for everything depends on the conditions, the people, and the place.

At a propitious moment, I will mention all those you cite near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, so that they obtain the satisfaction of their needs, in accordance with what you write to me. It is you who transmitted this request to me, and may Hashem therefore grant that you give me good tidings thereof. With my blessing to convey these good tidings,

לאחרי הפסק הכי ארוך נתקבל מכתבו מאור ליום כ' שבט. ופלא שאינו מזכיר דבר בהנוגע ליום ההילולא שבודאי השתתף בההתועדות וקבל החלטות טובות שרישומן יהי' ניכר על כל השנה כולה.

הנה בכל אופן מובן שביום מלאות י"ג שנים צריך להיות איזה ענין של שמחה, ובפרט עפ"י המבואר בזהר חדש פ' בראשית גודל השמחה ביום זה.

ובהנוגע להתועדות שכמה וכמה יוכלו להשתתף בזה, עליו להתיעץ במקום בזה, שהרי תלוי זה בתנאי האישים והמקום.

בעת רצון יזכירו את כל אלה שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להמצטרך להם מתאים לתוכן כתבו.
