I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of this Monday evening. You are aware of the Jewish practice according to which, in order to fix the date and the place of a marriage, the two parties must consult with each other. May Hashem grant that the decision you make be at a good and fruitful time, at a judicious and favorable location. When you have made this decision, you will also consider the necessary documents and diplomas, of course in consultation with the lawyers managing this file. It is clear that the idea of completing at least the first part of the Yoreh Deah* and receiving rabbinical ordination in this regard is quite judicious. But this is not linked to the manner in which you will earn your livelihood.

Likewise, it is clear that there is no reason to postpone this study until after the marriage. On the contrary, one must devote oneself to it as quickly as possible. Thus, after a certain time, you will be in a position to decide when to stop it. In accordance with the Halachic* decision applying to a Shochet*, which must be respected in any case, I have good hope that you already know the laws of Shechitah*, which are an important part of the Shulchan Aruch*, Yoreh Deah*, volume 1. I also hope that you have a fixed time for the study of Chassidus*, every day and, in a more intense manner, during Shabbos*, which is "consecrated to Hashem." Various texts establish its importance. Regarding your housing, it is evident that you must prepare a temporary dwelling and then, subsequently, choose one that will be permanent. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

במענה למכתבו מאור ליום השני.

ידוע המנהג בישראל, אשר בהנוגע לזמן ולמקום החתונה, על המחותנים משני הצדדים להתדבר ביניהם, ויהי רצון שאיך שיחליטו יהי' בשעה טובה ומוצלחת ובמקום טוב ומוצלח, ולאחרי שיחליטו בהאמור הרי אז יחליטו גם בהנוגע לניירות ותעודות הדרושות (כמובן, בהתיעצות עם עו"ד המתעסקים בזה).

מובן וגם פשוט, אשר ההצעה שיגמור עכ"פ חלק הראשון דיו"ד ולקבל סמיכה, נכונה היא במאד מאד, ואין זה נוגע לענין פרנסתו גשמית, וכן מובן ג"כ שאין לדחות לימוד האמור לאחרי החתונה, כי אם להתחיל בזה בהקדם ובהמשך איזה זמן יוכל להחליט מתי יגמור, והרי התקוה חזקה (ע"פ הפס"ד בהנוגע לשו"ב שצ"ל בלא"ה) בקי גם עתה בהלכות שו"ב וכו', והרי זה חלק חשוב משו"ע יו"ד חלק ראשון.

תקותי שיש לו קביעות עתים בלימוד דא"ח בכל יום ויום ובהוספה ביום הש"ק אשר קדש הוא לד', וכמבואר הכרח הענין בכו"כ מקומות.

בהנוגע לדירה - מובן שיכין דירה ארעית וביחד יבחרו אח"כ דירה קבועה.
