To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav Gedalya (note 1: Rav G. Axelrod),

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter of 8 Adar* (note 2: Following the passing of the father of the addressee, Rav Moshe Axelrod. See, on this subject, letter no. 7265). May Hashem grant that in the future, you yourself and each member of your family, whom Hashem will grant long days and good years, know neither sorrow nor pain. You will encounter only goodness and beneficence, every day. This includes, of course, earning your livelihood in the proper manner, in tranquility and honor. You will give me good tidings of yourself and of each member of your family, of a visible and tangible good. With my blessing for you and for your entire family,

N.B.: You make allusion to the prayer following study, which appears in several Siddurim*. I have not observed that the Chassidim* recite it. Regarding Tachanun* during the prayer of Minchah*, our custom, which is widely practiced, is to recite it, except, of course, on the dates enumerated in the Siddur* of the Alter Rebbe*, just before the prayer U'Va LeTzion*, "and a redeemer shall come to Tzion*." As I heard once from my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, our custom is to recite Tachanun* also on the anniversary of passing, and the Tzemach Tzedek* says, regarding this: "Is there a better moment to implore Hashem?" Now, the same applies for the prayer of Minchah*, of which our Sages* say: "One must always recite the prayer of Minchah* scrupulously, for it is only during that prayer that the prophet Eliyahu* was answered." Regarding the name that was added (note 3: To the deceased, on account of his illness), you will verify all this with a Rav who decides Halachah* in your surroundings (note 4: To determine whether it should be retained despite the passing, or not). The customs of the twelve months and of the anniversary of passing are published in the pamphlet of 10-13 Shevat* and in that of 2 Nissan*.

ובזה כמובן וגם פשוט שיסתדרו עניני הפרנסה כדבעי באופן של מנוחה וכבוד, ויבשר טוב בהנוגע אליו וכל או"א מהמשפחה שי' בטוב הנראה והנגלה.

במ"ש אודות התפלה שלאחר הלימוד שנדפס בסידורים - לא ראיתי בתוך אנ"ש שיאמרוה.

בהנוגע לאמירת תחנון בתפלת מנחה, מפורסם מנהגנו לאומרו (לבד, כמובן, באותם הימים המצוינים בסידור מאדה"ז לפני ובא לציון), וע"ד ששמעתי פעם מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בהנוגע ליום היאצ"ט שמנהגנו לומר תחנון, שאמר הצמח צדק: ווען איז נאך אזא צייט אויף אויסצובעטין. שעד"ז הוא גם בתפלת מנחה שאמרו רז"ל לעולם יהא אדם זהיר בתפלת המנחה שהרי אליהו לא נענה אלא בתפלת המנחה.

בהנוגע להשם שנוסף - יבררו אצל רב מורה הוראה בסביבתו.

מנהגי י"ב חדש וכן היאצ"ט נדפס בקונטרסי י-יג שבט וב' ניסן.
