To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, of an illustrious family, the Rav Matisyahu Yechezkel (note 1: Rav M. Y. Guttman, of Yafo. See, regarding him, letter no. 4186),

I greet you and bless you,

After a particularly long interruption, I duly received your letter of 18 Adar*. At a propitious moment, your name will be mentioned near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, in accordance with the content of your letter, as well as that of your wife, so that she obtain the satisfaction of her needs, in accordance with what you write to me. It is you who transmitted this request to me, and may Hashem therefore grant that you give me good tidings thereof, especially since we are at the end and conclusion of the month of Adar*. Now, of its entirety, it was said (note 2: In the Megillah* of Esther*): "It was transformed" into joy and festivity. And may everything that constitutes an obstacle to the service of Hashem be transformed into light, joy, gladness, and honor, including in the plain sense of this verse. With my respects and my blessing to give good tidings,

N.B.: You make reference to commentaries found in a manuscript that is in the possession of your brother, the Rav. The Chassidic* discourse you reproduce appears in the Torah Or*, of the Tzemach Tzedek*, published in Poltava. It is entitled: "When a man shall sell his daughter," and its author is "our great master" — that is, precisely the Tzemach Tzedek*. Nevertheless, you specify that this manuscript consists of 323 pages. Without a doubt, it therefore contains many other Chassidic* discourses. If it does not impose upon you a great inconvenience, I would be interested in all the information you could provide me on this subject. I thank you in advance for all the efforts you will be able to make toward this end.

ויהי רצון שכשם שהביא הבקשה כן יבשר טוב בזה ובפרט שהרי נמצאים אנו בחותם וסיום דחדש אדר, אשר על כל החדש כולו נאמר, ונהפוך הוא לשמחה וליו"ט, הנה יהפכו כל הענינים המונעים מעבודת השי"ת לאורה שמחה וששון ויקר וגם כפשוטו של מקרא.

הנה ד"ה שמעתיק, נמצאים באור התורה להצמח צדק, נדפס בפלטבה. ד"ה כי ימכור איש את בתו, דרוש מרבנו הגדול וכו' הוא ג"כ להצ"צ.

אלא שכיון שכותב שהביכל מחזיק שכ"ג דפים, הרי בודאי שישנם שם עוד כו"כ דרושים, ואם אינו קשור בטרחה יתירה, אתענין לקבל ידיעות האפשריות בזה, ות"ח מראש על הטרחה.
