To the young man Mordechai Yosef Elazar (note 1: Rav M. Y. E. Goldschmidt, of Tel Aviv. See, regarding him, letter no. 7315),

I greet you and bless you,

I am surprised not to receive letters from you and not to have news of you for some time, even though I trust that, in accordance with the injunction that: "One must rise in the domain of holiness," you are multiplying your actions destined to strengthen Judaism, the Torah*, its Mitzvos*, and their profound dimension — the dissemination of the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*).

Various texts establish that the "outside" (note 3: In which these wellsprings must be disseminated) is, above all, one's own — that which is beyond the profound dimension of "the second soul of Israel" (note 4: The divine soul, according to the terms of the second chapter of Tanya*), that of wisdom — but also the outside in the most literal sense, and the action on behalf of one's fellow who is found in this outside. We have received the injunction to accomplish all this and it is therefore certain that the means and the capacities to do so have been given to us. Consequently, everything depends only on your will. Moreover, we are in the bicentennial of the Hilloula* of the Baal Shem Tov*, a year propitious for the dissemination of the wellsprings, which are the teaching of Chassidus*. With my blessing for a kosher and joyous Pesach* festival, as well as for giving good tidings,

לפלא שזה זמן שאין ממנו כל מכתבים וידיעות, אף שתקותי חזקה שמתאים להציווי דמעלין בקדש מוסיף בפעולות בהחזקת היהדות תורה ומצותי' ובנקודה הפנימית הפצת המעינות חוצה (וע"פ המבואר בכ"מ אשר החוצה מתחיל מהחוצה של עצמו, מחוץ לנקודה הפנימית של נפש השנית בישראל, שהיא החכמה ועד להחוצה כפשוטו הפעולה בהזולת בחוצה ממש). והרי כיון שנצטוו על זה, בודאי שניתנה האפשריות והיכולת למלאות זאת, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצון. ובפרט אשר נמצאים אנו בשנת המאתים להסתלקות הילולא של הבעש"ט, שנת סגולה להפצת מעינותיו שהיא היא תורת החסידות.
