To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, of multiple knowledge, the Rav Sh. Y. (note 1: Rav Shlomo Yosef Zevin, of Yerushalayim*. See, regarding him, letter no. 7066),

I greet you and bless you,

Regarding the rabbinical position (note 2: See, on this subject, letters no. 7282 and 7356) that recently became vacant in Ramat Gan, with the passing of the great Rav M. Axelrod (note 3: See, regarding him, letter no. 7220), as well as that of Tel Aviv, in the Nachalas Binyamin* (note 4: The Heritage of Binyamin) synagogue, I trust that you are using your influence, with all possible eagerness and determination, so that the successor (note 5: In Hebrew, Memalei Makom*, literally "one who fills the place of the predecessor") be, in the very sense of this expression, one who takes the place of the deceased in all that concerns Chassidus* and what stems from it.

Given the great evidence and the immense importance of all this, it is certain that it is by no means necessary to say more. My intervention is therefore only the application of the teaching of our Sages* according to which: "One counsels eagerness only to those who naturally possess this quality." I would like to receive news of what will be done in this matter and of the success achieved. With my blessing to give these good tidings,

תקותי חזקה שמנצל כת"ר שי' כל השפעתו במלא המרץ והתוקף, שהמ"מ יהי' כתוכן התואר ממלא מקום הנפטר בהנוגע לעניני תורת החסידות ומנהגי'.

ולגודל ערך ופשיטות הנחיצות בזה, בודאי שאין להאריך, ולא באתי אלא בהתאם למאמר חז"ל אין מזרזין אלא למזורזין, וינעם לי להתבשר מהפעולות בהנ"ל ומהצלחתן.
