To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Chaim Zusya (note 1: Rav Ch. Z. Wilimovski, of Tel Aviv. See, regarding him, letters no. 6863 and 7408),

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter, which was concluded after the festival of Pesach*. May Hashem grant that you give me good tidings of all that you write to me. You will understand my astonishment and surprise upon noting that you do not say a word to me about the campaign for Matzah Shemurah* (note 2: To enable the greatest number to have it for the Seder* of Pesach*), nor even about the gathering that was convened under your direction and at your initiative. No doubt you will inform me of all this at the next opportunity. May Hashem grant that there be good tidings, of a visible and tangible good, both materially and spiritually (note 3: A similar letter was sent to many people). With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

This year marks the bicentennial of the Hilloula* of the Baal Shem Tov*, which will fall on the first day of Shavuos*. No doubt you will strive to obtain the greatest breadth and the most immense development in all domains and in all your activities, in connection with Lag BaOmer*, the Hilloula* of the one (note 4: Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai*) who introduced the link between the inner dimension of the Torah* and its revealed part, who began its revelation. This will furthermore be linked to the festival of Shavuos*, the time of the giving of our Torah*, when its secrets, the Heavenly Chariot, appeared with evidence, so that it was then possible to observe them concretely, as it is said: "And all the people saw..." (note 5: The voices), as explained in chapter 36 of Tanya*. Hashem will grant you the success to put into practice the Divine Will.
