By the grace of Hashem,

Rosh Chodesh* Menachem Av* 5720,

bicentennial of the Hilloula* of our master,

the Baal Shem Tov*,

To the committee of Kfar Chabad* in the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, founded and directed by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us,

May Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

On this Rosh Chodesh* Menachem Av* (note 1: Which means, literally, "Consoling Father"), during which, as its name indicates, our Father Who is in heaven consoles every Jewish man and every Jewish woman, as it is said: "My firstborn son, Israel" and "You are children to Hashem your Elokim*," on account of the events that occurred during these days and these weeks (note 2: The destruction of the Temple), may Hashem grant that you observe all of this with your eyes of flesh, in a visible and tangible good. Edification will replace destruction and the fulfillment of the Precept: "And you shall spread to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south" will take the place of this period, between the straits (note 3: Between the 17th of Tammuz* and the 9th of Av*). It will be so, very soon, through our righteous Moshiach* (note 4: See the preceding letter).

To follow up on what was said, it has been possible, with the help of Hashem, to obtain the following promise. If all the buildings of Kfar Chabad*, all those destined for the Moroccans, all those reserved for professional activities, the number of which shall be at least six — and I have good hope that with the proper effort and the intervention of our friends, to whom Hashem will grant long life, there will be more than that — all the residential buildings of Kfar Chabad*, which shall be at least forty, are completed before the eve of Rosh Hashanah* that approaches, for us and for all Israel, for good, or in any case no later than the time of our joy, on the coming festival of Sukkos*, since these days are linked to the past year, as it is said: "at the conclusion of seven years" (note 5: The Hakhel* gathering takes place during the festival of Sukkos* that follows the Shemittah*, but the verse nevertheless links it to this seventh year), a gift will be made to the treasury of the committee of Kfar Chabad*, the amount of which will be, at minimum, five thousand Israeli liras.

May Hashem grant that the Will of Hashem be accomplished through your intermediary. You will strengthen and develop everything concerning Kfar Chabad*, quantitatively and qualitatively, including the edifices mentioned above, in quantity and in quality, both materially and spiritually. You will accomplish all of this with extraordinary zeal, as the Alter Rebbe* states in Iggeres HaKodesh*, and you will know success. This accomplishment will make it possible to broaden and enlarge the channel and the receptacles through which one receives the blessings of the Creator of the world, Who directs it, in all that concerns Kfar Chabad* and its residents, to whom Hashem will grant long days and good years, until the promise is fulfilled according to which "He Who consoles Tzion* and rebuilds Yerushalayim* will redeem us," at the true and complete redemption. With my blessing of success in what has just been said and to give good tidings of all this,

בעמדנו בראש חדש מנחם אב, שכשמו כן הוא, אשר אבינו שבשמים מנחם את כל אחד ואחת מבני ישראל, בני בכורי ישראל ובנים אתם לה' אלקיכם תמורת אלה הענינים שקרו במשך ימים ושבועות אלה, יהי רצון שיראה כל זה גם לעיני בשר ובטוב הנראה והנגלה, בנין תחת חורבן, ובאופן דופרצת ימה וקדמה וצפונה ונגבה תמורת בין המצרים בעגלא דידן על ידי משיח צדקנו.

ובהמשך להאמור, הנה עלה בעזה"י לקבל הבטחה מ..., אשר באם יוגמרו וישלימו הבנינים כולם בכפר חב"ד, ז.א. כל בניני המרוקאנים וכל הבנינים לאנשי המקצוע (לא פחות מששה. ותקותי חזקה אשר יעלה בידם להוסיף על זה בהשתדלות המתאימה ובעזרת ידידינו שליט"א) וכל בניני השכון אשר בכפר חב"ד (לא פחות מארבעים) עד לערב ראש השנה הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה, ובכל אופן לא יאוחר מזמן שמחתנו חג הסוכות הבע"ל, שגם ימים אלה שייכים לשנה שקודמם, וכלשון הכתוב, מקץ שבע וגו'.

יתרום לקופת ועד כפר חב"ד סכום לא פחות מחמשת אלפים לירות ישראליות.

ויהי רצון אשר חפץ ה' בידם יצליח, לבסס ולהרחיב כל עניני כפר חב"ד הן בכמות והן באיכות, ועניני בנינים האמורים בכלל זה, שגם הם כמות ואיכות גם יחד גשמיות ורוחניות גם יחד, ויעשו בזה בזריזות נפלאה, כדברי רבנו הזקן באגה"ק שלו, ויצליחו.

וגם זה ישמש להרחבת והגדלת הצנור והכלים לקבלת ברכות בורא עולם

ומנהיגו - בכל עניני כפר חב"ד ותושבי' שליט"א.

ועד לקיום היעוד דמנחם ציון ובונה ירושלים לגאלנו בגאולה האמיתית והשלימה.
