I greet you and bless you,

You write to me about the organization of your wedding. In general, I do not at all appreciate the financial waste that constitutes renting a hall and other elements besides — expenses that are without usefulness, including in the material sense. Certainly, our Sages* emphasize the importance of bringing joy to the bride and groom and they stress that the obligation falls upon everyone. Nevertheless, one can verify concretely that the joy is even greater when the wedding does not take place in a hall known as such, the rental of which cost a fortune. The simpler it is, the better. Of course, everyone must organize things in a satisfactory manner and with the full agreement of both parties, which obviously includes the opinion and the will of the women, as is also indicated by the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "How does one dance before the bride?" With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

... במ"ש אודות סדרי חתונה - בכלל אין דעתי נוחה כלל מבזבוז ממון על ידי שכירות אולם ועוד כהנה - הוצאות שאין בהם כל תועלת ואפילו גשמית ג"כ לא, ואף שהפליגו חז"ל בשמחת חו"כ ואיך שכל אחד מחויב בזה, הרי רואים במוחש שהשמחה יותר גדולה כשעושים החתונה לא באולם רשמי שמשכורתו הון תועפות כ"א עושים החתונה באופן דכל דפשיט טפי מעלי טפי, אלא שמובן ג"כ שבכ"א מוכרח לסדר הענין דוקא בדרכי נועם ובהסכמה מלאה של שני הצדדים, ובזה גם דעת נשים ורצונם וק"ל, וכמובן ג"כ מהדרוש דא"ח - כיצד מרקדין לפני הכלה דוקא.
