To Mrs. Leah (note 2: Mrs. L. Abelski, of Kiryat Gat),

I bless you and greet you,

I was pleased to receive your letter of 23 Cheshvan*, in which you inform me of your intention and your desire to found a Chabad* women's association in your city. Even if the first attempt was not fully successful, I am certain that you will not be discouraged by this and that you will confer again to undertake action in this matter. May Hashem grant that you succeed with enthusiasm and warmth. In this way, you will find a response and you will meet with success.

Of course, the approach and the content of your words cannot be the same in every place, for they depend on the people who are present. It is therefore important that you agree beforehand, in the proper manner, among yourselves, then with your husbands, the Rabbanim*, who know the situation and are thus able to formulate an opinion, so that your action arouses the interest of the women and attracts them in a lasting manner, and much more — that this action develops and grows in scope, from time to time.

Such action is of the highest importance in every place, and it is even more fundamental in a place where new immigrants settle. Indeed, one must ensure that they establish their way of life on the Jewish path, particularly in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, of which it is said: "The eyes of Hashem are always turned toward it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year."

May Hashem grant that the following proverb of our Sages* be fulfilled in you: "If you make efforts, they will be crowned with success." Indeed, we are entering Kislev*, the month of miracles and deliverance (note 3: Of the Alter Rebbe*, on 19 Kislev, and of the Mitteler Rebbe*, on 10 Kislev). שמחתי לקבל מכתבן מכ״ג חשון בו כותבות אודות כוונתן ורצונן

ליסד ארגון נשי חב״ד במחנם הט׳.

אף שהנסיון הראשון לא הצליח )לגמרי( ,הנני בטוח שלא יבהלו,

ויתדברו שוב לפעול בזה ,והשם יתברך יעזור שיעשו בלבביות ובחמימות,

]שאז[ יהי׳ לזה הד ויצליחו.

מובן שהגישה ותוכן הדברים לא שוים בכל מקום ,כי הדבר תלוי

באנשים הנמצאים במקום ,ולכן טוב להתדבר היטב קודם לכן ביניהן

וגם עם בעליהן ,הרבנים שיחיו ,המכירים את המצב ויכולים לתת עצה

כיצד לגשת באופן שיעניין את הנשים וימשוך אותן ,שיהי׳ לזה קיום,

ויתרה מכך ,שזה יצמח ויגדל מזמן לזמן.

מכיון שעבודה זו חשובה ביותר בכל מקום ונחוצה במידה גדולה

עוד יותר במקומות שבהם מגיעים עולים חדשים ,ונחוץ לוודא שיקבעו

את אופי חייהם בדרך היהדות ובפרט בארצנו הקדושה ת״ו עלי׳ נאמר,

עיני ה׳ אלקיך בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה,

יעזור השם יתברך שיהי׳ זה כפתגם רז״ל יגעת ומצאת ,והרי אנו

נכנסים לחודש כסלו ,חודש הניטים והגאולה.
