I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 29 Cheshvan*, in which you mention your attachment (note 1: To the Rebbe. See, on this subject, letter no. 7412). You have surely seen the words of our masters and leaders concerning this attachment. They are reported in the Hayom Yom*, on the dates of 9 Adar Sheini* and 24 Sivan. This clearly means that everything depends on you. Nevertheless, our Sages* emphasize that: "if you make efforts, they will be crowned with success," which clearly means that only such effort enables one to obtain a result.

In any case, I have good hope, based on the desire of which you speak (note 2: The desire to be attached to the Rebbe), that you study with enthusiasm and ardor both the revealed part of the Torah* and Chassidus*, and that furthermore you practice the Mitzvos* in the best manner. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,
