I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of this Sunday, in which you tell me that you have been married for eight months... (note 1: While this couple still does not expect a child). You ask me whether you should undergo an examination (note 2: Seeking possible male infertility), since your wife is in good health. This seems contradictory, since you yourself specify at the beginning of your letter that she feels unwell. But you probably mean that the standard examination in this matter has already been performed on her.

In any case, during the year (note 3: The entire first year of marriage), it is not necessary to consult and undergo examinations. You yourself and your wife will strengthen your commitment regarding the Torah* and the Mitzvos* in general, the scrupulous observance of family purity in particular. Indeed, for everything that touches upon good and holiness, a situation as good as it may be can always be improved, since one is attached to the Holy One, blessed be He, Who is infinite.

Although you say nothing about it, I have good hope that you have a fixed time each day for the study of Chassidus*, as well as of the revealed part of the Torah*. During Shabbos*, which is holy to Hashem, this time will be increased. Furthermore, you disseminate the wellsprings (note 4: Of Chassidus) outward, in accordance with the demand and necessity of the moment. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

במענה למכתבו מיום הראשון, בו כותב שזה שמונה חדשים לאחרי הנשואין וכו' ושואל אם עליו להבדק [ושזוגתו תחי' בריאה לגמרי (שלכאורה כותב סתירה, כיון שבתחלת מכתבו כותב שמרגישה רע וכו')] וכנראה הכוונה שיבדקוהו כרגיל בכגון דא.

והנה בכל אופן במשך השנה, אין כדאי שיבקרו ויבדקו אותו, כי אם שעליו ועל זוגתו תחי' להוסיף בעניני תורה ומצות בכלל ובדיוק בעניני טהרת המשפחה, והרי בעניני טוב וקדושה ככל שלא יהי' המצב טוב, תמיד יש מקום להוסיף עוד, כיון שקשורים בהקב"ה שהוא אין סופי.

אף שאין מזכיר עד"ז תקותי חזקה שיש לו קביעות עתים בלימוד תורת החסידות (ובתורת הנגלה) בכל יום, ובהוספה ביום הש"ק אשר קדש הוא לד' ועושה ג"כ בהפצת המעינות חוצה, מתאים לדרישת והכרח השעה.
