Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7527 — Tzedakah
Volume 20 · Letter 82 · [Kislev 5721(1)]
Kislev* 5721 (note 1: The date of this letter is not certain),
It is stated (note 2: This letter is addressed to Rabbi Shalom Sufrin, the Rebbe of Komarno. It was written directly on his correspondence, dated 12 Kislev* 5721. See, regarding him, letters no. 6180, 6208, and 7627) in the writings of the Arizal*, Shaar HaPesukim*, Parshas* Shemos*, that one does not refute a commentary (note 3: Since the same passage can receive several divergent explanations). Despite this, you write that the angels of whom the verse speaks: "And Yaakov* sent angels" are those who were created by his Mitzvos*. Now, in this case, one can truly ask whether his objective was to send his Mitzvos* to Eisav* (note 4: To whom these angels were delegated), all the more so since "the Mitzvos* were not given so that one derive personal benefit from them."
