Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7530 — Prayer

2 Teves* 5721,
We are in the days of Chanukah* and we currently recite the prayer Al HaNissim* (note 1: Paragraph inserted in the Amidah* and the Grace After Meals during this festival). Now, all that belongs to our Torah* and its Mitzvos* is eternal and concerns every Jew, in all generations. May Hashem therefore come to the aid of each person. In this way, "You placed the strong, the numerous, the impure, the wicked, the evil in the hands of" (note 2: According to the text of the Al HaNissim* paragraph) the one who devotes himself to the Torah*, within the personality of each individual. The strong one (note 3: Of whom this paragraph speaks) is the evil inclination, which derives its power from the fact that it presents its argumentation first (note 4: Since it enters the body of man from birth, whereas the good inclination manifests itself only after the Bar Mitzvah*). And it is well stated here: "You placed," for "it is by the strength of the ox (note 5: Which evokes the evil inclination, the animal soul) that one obtains the abundant harvests," "with all your heart," that is, "with your two inclinations" (note 6: Due to the additional letter Beis in the word Levavcha, your heart, whose numerical value is two, thus introducing an allusion to these two inclinations). This will increase the dissemination of Judaism in general, that of the wellsprings (note 7: Of Chassidus*) in particular. In this way, the verse will be fulfilled: "You shall spread forth..." (note 8: To the west and to the east, to the north and to the south). Then will come the king Moshiach* and "they will purify His Sanctuary, praise and glorify His great Name" (note 2: According to the text of the Al HaNissim* paragraph).

... וכיון שנמצאים אנו בימי חנוכה, ואומרים ועל הנסים כו', וכל עניני תורתנו ומצותי' הרי נצחים הם ושייכים לכל בנ"י בכל דור ודור, הנה יהי רצון שיהי' הקב"ה עוזרו לכל או"א, ובמילא יהי' - מסרת גבורים ורבים וטמאים ורשעים וזדים ביד - עוסק בתורה שבכאו"א, שגבור הנ"ל (שזהו היצה"ר שגבור הוא ע"י אקדימתא טעניתא) וכו' יהי', כדיוק הלשון, מסרת, שיהי' באופן דרב תבואות בכח שור, בכל לבבך בשני יצריך, ויתוסף בהפצת היהדות בכלל ובהפצת המעינות ביחוד ועד לופרצת וגו', וקאתי מלכא משיחא, וטהרו מקדשו ויודו ויהללו לשמו הגדול.
