By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of the end of Teves*. At a propitious moment, your name and that of your wife will be mentioned near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, in accordance with the content of your letter. Just as you transmitted this request to me, may Hashem grant that you also give me good tidings thereof.

You mention the advances of medicine in the United States. In general, the doctors here and those of the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, work in close collaboration. The former know what the latter are doing. However, it is sometimes good to specifically ask the doctor one consults about the advances being made outside of Eretz Yisrael* and especially in the United States, in conformity with the affirmation of our Sages* according to which: "What does not fall upon the person..." (note 1: He does not think of it. In this case, the doctor may perhaps not think of a new treatment if he is not specifically asked about it).

You envision a move to Tel Aviv. It does not seem to me that this is a good initiative, at least for the time being. You tell me that your apartment evokes memories for you (note 2: Unpleasant ones, due to an unfortunate event that occurred there, hence the desire to move). Nevertheless, it is possible to change the furniture, or the arrangement of the rooms. Furthermore, it would be judicious, to the extent possible, that from time to time a Torah* class be held in your apartment, at least gathering a few people. It will deal with the revealed part of the Torah* or with its profound dimension, which, in our era, has been revealed through Chassidus*. It can also deal with both at once. May Hashem grant that you give me good tidings of all this. With my blessing to give these good tidings,

לכתבו אודות ההישגים של הרופאים בארצוה"ב בחכמת הרפואה - בכלל עומדים הרופאים דהכא ואה"ק ת"ו בקישור הדוק ויודעים אחד מהנעשה אצל השני, אלא שלפעמים כדאי במיוחד לשאול הרופא שמבקר אצלו ע"ד הישגים מחוץ לאה"ק ת"ו ובפרט בארצוה"ב וע"ד מאמר רז"ל, מיל[ת]א דלא רמי עלי דאיניש וכו'.

לכתבו אודות העתקה לתל אביב - לכאורה אין כדאי הענין עכ"פ לע"ע ומה שדירה שלהם מעוררת זכרונות וכו' אפשר לשנות הרהיטים או גם שימוש החדרים וכיו"ב, ועוד ונכון באם רק אפשרי שמזמן לזמן יהי' שיעור לימוד תורה בדירתם (של אנשים אחדים עכ"פ) אם בנגלה או בפנימיות התורה שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות או בשניהם גם יחד, יהי רצון שיבשר טוב בכל האמור.
